So, what do we know about this guy, Chuck Swoboda the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees at MU?  BB Friendly?

john31

I've known Chuck since I was 16 years old. Not sure how he feels about our hoops program but he has always been a super guy, very down to earth hard worker etc.... He was at MU when we were Warriors but on the decline(Bob Dukiet) so hopefully he yearns for the glory days of MU hoops and the program has another booster on the Bot's.

Did he have an older sister that graduated from MU in 83?

Charles M. Swoboda, Eng '89, was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2004, served as vice chair from 2011 to 2012, and was elected chair of the board in 2012.

He is chairman and chief executive officer of Cree Inc., where he and Cree are leading the LED lighting revolution and setting the stage to obsolete the incandescent light bulb through the use of energy-efficient, environmentally friendly LED lighting.  Cree is an innovator of LED lighting as well as semiconductor solutions for wireless and power applications.

Chuck joined Cree in 1993 and has held numerous executive positions influencing and leading Cree culture, technology and business from near start-up to today's market leadership.  Chuck has served as a member of the Cree Board of Directors since 2000, as chief executive officer since 2001 and chairman of the board since 2005.

After receiving his degree from Marquette University's College of Engineering in 1989, he was employed by the Hewlett-Packard Company.

In 2010 he was named Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year for the Carolinas.  He received the Spirit of Marquette Award in 2004 and is a member of the Marquette University 1881 Society.

Isn't Cree, Inc., a big Obama supporter?  Didn't Obama's Job Council meet there last year?

Appears he lives in my neck of the woods.  If he is anti-hoops in any way I'll have to TP his house.

Abode4life

He is not anti hoops.  I do a little work with them and when he found out I went to MU we talked about Bball for a solid thirty minutes.

Did he only want to talk about the traditional players?

Newsdreams

Big Obama supporters? President likes hoops, they must like hoops. President is not traditional, so maybe good news!!

Can't believe we're living in the land of F 452/1984/Animal Farm/Brave New World/Handmaid's Tale. When travel to Mars begins, expect Starship Troopers

But I hear from "reliable" people that 90% of MU fans would be totally OKAY being SLU?

Quote from: Goose on May 09, 2012, 09:21:23 AM
I was mocked for saying we could become SLU and for 90% of MU fans they probably would be accepting of that.

FYI, this whopper is BEGGING for one of AnotherMU84's famous polls.

Maybe we should all email him!!

The president is more traditional than non. But he is a community organizer.

Chuck is young, a great guy and a Friend of Basketball.  Talked to him at many away games.  Great choice for the university.

Despite the company he keeps...

Obama flew into Seattle yesterday for a $36,000 a plate Brunch in Medina. Only problem I have with his travels is that when he comes to town he really Effs up traffic. Yesterday it was around the T Mobile campus. Inconvenienced a sh1tload of people so he could scrounge political loot.

Mrs Warthog and I were going to attend but we heard they were serving domestic champagne so we of course took a pass. Not many retired Air Force Colonels invited to that "Brunch." The Obama crowd tends to look down their noses at hairy, smelly, foul-mouthed aviators who reek of single malt and Cuban cigar smoke and cheapened themselves by serving in the military. I hear Barbra Streisand and Harrison Ford were there, though. Ed Asner could not make it, unfortunately, as he was fomenting a people's uprising with Danny Ortega somewhere in Central America.

Sure you're not confusing him with Chuck Swirsky?

I usually love reading your posts Warthog, but this one was just lame, seeming to rely on lazy stereotypes. You're better than that (at least the quality of your posts are).

Sooooo, what you're telling me is........he's the president

If you have known him for a long time (I'm assuming that your not 17 now), and you are an MUBB fan (I'm assuming you are b/c you are on this site), and you don't know how he feels about MU hoops, we should be a bit concerned.

NavinRJohnson

As an unabashed and unrelenting supporter of the incandescent light bulb, I'm not sure how I feel about this.
