Odd.  But even more odd is that they count TCU as leaving the BE.

Did Pilarz and Williams up the requirements for commissioner?

Hiroshima Week begins on MU Scoop.  Thank god Rocky upgraded the servers.

Good, the guy F'ed up since he has been in.  He should go.

The BE has screwed up the last 10 years in my book.  They should have handed ND an ultimate to join the BE in football with some type of scewed revenue sharing agreement.  This would have forced ND's hand to join and would have solidified the football memebership.

Many say ND would not have capitulated, I disagree.  As long as the revenue sharing was fair to them they already are playing 3-4 BE teams each year.  Additionally, ND has no place for their Olympic sports and playing in the ACC or Big Ten would have been universally disliked by the current alumni who love them coming to NYC, Philly, Chicago, Louisville, Cincy, Providence, etc. etc.
It allows them to stay relavent in their area of strenth in recruiting for students and student athletes alike.

I wonder if this is actually the week. I would think, if a player is below the newly adopted grade point average, he still would have summer school to raise it. In my mind we will not know who is safe until sometime in August. I also would think certain players would be put on probation for personal issues. That being the next time they do something that negatively effects MU image, they are gone. There must have been some meeting of minds, that kept Buzz from leaving and I see these (no real knowledge) as the compromises made to keep Buzz happy and hold players accountable.

Not that I think Marinatto has necessarily done a good job, but I'm also not sure this is good news. Hopefully they get someone in who can keep this ship afloat, but the timing seems a bit odd and out of the blue.

The biggest mistake he made was not adding some good football teams a year earlier,Boise (FO) TCU, Navy (FO), and get to 12 before they were doing the last TV deal that got rejected by the owner's.  If he adds the 3 above and maybe 1 of Temple, houston, Central FL to get to 12 They may get 15 mil per team a year and they sign the deal.  Up the exit fee and you might not have gotten the 3 teams leaving.

Blackhat

No way ND would be forced into the BE.  If anywhere it'd be the Big Ten.  They nearly play a Big Ten schedule in football as is.   Football is what matters, plus more prestigious academics in B1G.

This sums up 95% of the garbage I've stopped reading over the past few weeks.

Agree.  Jabba was pretty useless, but the resignation now seems to give the impression of trouble.  Hopefully the BE can find a replacement that keeps things afloat, similar to the Big 12 finding more stable ground after Beebe's departure.

There is no chance that ND would have had their hand forced to join the BE.  Zero.

Even revenue sharing wouldn't have worked because if it is revenue that ND cared about first and foremost, they would have joined the B10.

The Big 12 jettisoned its commish and hired Bowlsby.  Suspect the BE presidents have someone in mind who will work with ESPN on a contract.

I have a feeling that this means that BCS negotiations are going very poorly from a BE perspective - in that they might lose any sort of "autobid" that comes with membership.  If that is the case, they lose the only thing that makes the BE attractive from a football standpoint.  I mean, if you are Boise or SDSU, why would you stay in the BE if they lose the autobid?  Especially since they have to park their other sports in "lesser" conferences.  Wouldn't you just stay in the Mountain West?

I respect your opinion but disagree with it.

I also thing ND hanging on getting all the fruits of mebership with its Olympic sports yet not for football has been a bone of contention for the membership, and for that matter if they would not join I think we would be better off without them.  Also, not sure at all that you are right had ND been called on it.  There current Olympic sports BE memebrship is a dream scenario for them.  the thought of Big 10 or Acc membership in Olympic sports would be a cataclysmic situation for them, one that I dont think they would even want to consider.

The presidents met and dtermined MArinatto sucks.  The president meet next week.

That is the only thing timing wise that this decison has to do with anything

Paul Taligblue?

I would be surprised if Tagliabue is brought in.  He was brought in by Marinatto in April 2010, and it was over a year later that Syracuse and Pitt left.

IOW, I don't think Tagliabue has done jack-sh*t to help the conference.

RushmoreAcademy

I don't know what Marinatto has done recently that would make anyone too upset over this, but depending on who is brought in, it could be very good or very bad. Too early to tell which way this goes.

Although they never participated, they did hang around long enough to incur an exit fee.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Here is the LittleMurs 2 step plan to not just save the Big East, but to make it one of the top three conferences in the country

     1. Hire the new commissioner from ESPN.

     2. Change the name of the conference to The Big ESPN Conference.

A lot of conjecture there.  Not one mention of manbearpig though.
