Golden Avalanche

I've seen him play many times at ASU, now I can't wait to see him live at the Bradley Center!

Could you elaborate on his game a bit?

The Pac-12 was terrible last season so I never tuned it as often as in the past and when I did it was only to follow Washington so I'm a little unfamiliar with Lockett's skills.

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

His game is similar to Vander's but he can finish around the rim much better and has a much smoother shot. But his athleticism and game style is very similar.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Great news. He'll be great addition to the program.

Blackheart
Let's hope it is great news!

I think you missed the point of Blackheart's comment.  It becomes great news if Marquette's need for him increases due to more roster losses.  Let's hope it stays just good news.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Earl Tatum

"F" on this Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Stick to the subject.

The last couple of years he's clearly been the top offensive option at ASU, so he's had years of experience playing with the other team game planning against him.

I couldn't agree more.

The Process

This is good to see from Lockett himself!  There's no such thing as "too many" offensive options.
Relax. Respect the Process.

Exactly its always a plus to have more than 1 senior for leadership reasons.

Groin_pull

No downside to this. A talented scorer on the court...and an Academic All American in the classroom.

As Larry McCarran would say.      YYEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

But is the BOT ok with this since he's not a traditional?

He's gonna look good in blue and gold.  Great news!  I wonder if Jones was planning on leaving before he knew a possible wing player was joining, or perhaps he found out one (Lockett) was coming and decided it was time to go.

Otule's Glass Eye

Rotation

1) 1. Cadougan, 2. D.Wilson
2) 1. Lockett, 2. Mayo 3. Ferguson 4. Thomas
3) 1. Blue, 2. TJ Taylor 3. Juan 4. Ferguson
4) 1. J.Wilson 2. Juan 3. S.Taylor
5) 1. Otule 2. Gardner

But a lot could (and probably will) happen between now and the start of the season. I expect Lockett to lead the team in scoring.

From what I have seen of Steve Taylor, I would put him as the primary backup to Wilson at the "4" spot.  Other than that, that lineup looks good.  A lot of depth at guard.

Boone

S. Taylor is already more physically ready to play the 4 than Juan is. I'd reverse them at the 4 spot on the depth chart.

Excellent news.  My girlfriend's father played for ASU and he took us on a tour of their new practice facility in early 2011.  That was Lockett's sophomore year and everyone we talked to raved about him.  Took in a horrific game afterwards (they lost 55-41, I thought it was the badgers in cardinal & white), but he was the lone bright spot for the Sun Devils.  Glad he picked MU!

Most people in D1 basketball can finish and shoot better than Vander; so that's not saying much. Vander shot 25% from the field (for the year!) and had only 2 less turnovers than DJO, while playing 250 less minutes. Most of his shots were within 10 feet of the rim. The one thing Vander did (and I hope Lockett can do as well) is defend and create steals.

Hell, he almost had as many TO's as Junior. Lockett will be a significant upgrade.

- Vander didn't shoot 25% from the field.  That's ridiculous.
- Implying that Vander turned it over almost as often as Junior is the same as saying DJO had as many turnovers as Vander.  Silly.
- Lockett turned the ball over with more frequency than Blue last season.
- Vander's 43% eFG & 23% TO rate both have plenty of room for improvement... you'll see it this season.
- Don't forget Van also drew contact and got to the line.  He was also our second best assist man.

The portal is NOT closed.

Windyplayer

Really, really good news. If there were any concerns about a somewhat down year next year, due to a lot of unanswered questions, this "get" should alleviate much of those.

-Vander had 4.5 rpg....better than everyone on the team but Gardner and Jae.  Yes, better than Jamil and at least 1.0 rpg better than any other guard on the team.
