The NCAA says some sports can take a foreign trip once every 4 years, allowing the teams extra practice time for this activity.  To my knowledge, Buzz has yet to take the boys on a trip, anyone know if this is the summer they plan on going away for some games?

They got a game scheduled on July 4th against the North Korean national team

Half the court in the north and half in the south. North Korea insisted all the refs are from China to make it fair.

If they're flying North Korea Air, I suspect we will lose a very good team somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I'm so down for the game and after party in Pyongyang. The only thing I worry about is Kim Jong Un eating all the food at the after party...

I've spent a lot of time in the ROK, both military and civilian. Best memories were of course from my flying experiences. We used to go TDY to Kunsan from Misawa, Japan. Kunsan is home to the Wolfpack, considered the best F 16 pukes in the world. They have great low level ranges there that offer superb flying, especially with the Wolfpack flying as OpFor. The bars outside the gate are populated by aggressive Hostesstutes whose sole mission is to relieve you of your hard earned flight pay. We would take the Seoul Train to Seoul and get rooms at the Itaewon Hilton for $40 bucks a night for active duty military. I remember drinking in Itaewon bars with a full fledged riot (police vs students) raging right outside on the main street. There would be tear gas bleeding into the bar. Problem with Korea is the food sucks and the people are actually quite aggressive, in a negative way. Japan, Hong Kong, and SE Asia were much better destinations. Angeles City and Olongopo in the Philippines were much favored destinations. Fire & Empire Lounge.

Hong Kong is one of my favorite worldwide destinations.  Korea = Flavorless congee and gimchee......Never liked dealing with the Koreans for work.  Very difficult.  Still laugh over a very serious question asked by a Korean company as to what our machine did at 0 rpm (revolutions per minute).  "Ehhhhh, nothing?"

I am really hoping they take advantage of this.  You're allowed to go every four years, and could have gone last year but didn't.  With Lockett coming aboard the experience playing together and TEN extra practices would be invaluable.

Don't these tourneys usually happen in the Caribbean?

We went up to Canada five years ago.  Georgetown and Duke went to China last year.  Georgetown got in a fight with a Chinese team, Duke got on ESPN because they're Duke.  Some teams have gone to the Caribbean, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Brazil...you name it.

Great article about the trips:

The GU trip to China was bizarre. I don't think anyone will go there anytime soon.

GTown played a Chinese military team.  I think that a trip to China would be great as long as we play college kids about our same age instead of kids trained to be aggressive/fight/kill.

I wonder what would happen if Buzz dances on their basketball floor? It could be an international nighmere. Maybe MU should not allow Buzz to go.

I doubt the kids playing basketball are warriors. They are paid to play buckets.
