Earlier it was mentioned that he changed his Twitter wallpaper as well...from a Marquette theme to something else.

I would be VERY disappointed to see Juan leave. Tons of potential. Hope this turns out to be nothing.

BM1090

Based on Vander's twitter I would bet that he is not leaving. He has been tweeting with TJ Taylor about making a statement in Maui next season.

Mods, feel free to move or delete this if it is not in the right area.

I took a sh!t today that was shaped like California.  It's a sign.

Do you know how many college kids try to stay away from all social networking during Finals week?? I saw him tweeting a couple of days ago, in fact yesterday that he needed headphones. We are recruiting 2's and 5's. The Durley decommitt makes it obvious why we are going for 5's. The Jamail transfer doesn't really explain the desire for a 2.  Juan would be idiotic to leave now with Jamail gone, and MU would be foolish to let him go

Wasn't Juan tweeting with McKay about when they were both going to be in Milwaukee. Juan made it sound like he was heading back to CA for a few days at the end of the semester and then coming back. If we are going solely off Twitter, I feel good about Juan staying.

I must be missing something on this kid, sure he hustles, played hard, did some good things on the boards, but showed me absolutely
no offensive game at all.  Upcoming year, he should be playing the 3, not the 4.  Maybe makes a difference playing  a new position but I am still not sure he is a Big East player.  If MU gets
Lockett, I see no time for him.   Rotation: 2 bigs, Otule, Gardner  PF:  Wilson, Taylor  SF and 2 guard:  Blue, Taylor, Mayo, Lockett  PG:  Junior and DWill>.  Add designated shooter in Thomas, that is 11.  Ferguson and Anderson are bench warmers.  How do you see it?

TheFarEastMovement

I am not sure but I might be reading into this a lot but the day it was announced that Jamail Jones was transferring, I saw both of them walking back to Humphrey with several hangers of MU gear. I would hate to see Juan go like I hated to see Erik and Jamail leave. Totally believe in underdogs. However, college ball seems to be changing as players seem to be impatient.

Have you watched any of his mixtapes, or did you see him at all during the Pro-Am? I think the reason he didn't do well offensively is that his offensive game needed a lot of refining. He's the definition of a point forward. He sees the floor ridiculously well, has absolutely sick moves off the dribble, and can make no-look passes that you would swear weren't there.

But everything he excelled at offensively in HS and AAU is going to require even more precise timing at this level and a more chiseled frame to allow him to drive and dish in the lane without being treated like a robin's egg on the ping-pong table. As I recall last summer, most people that had watched Juan play didn't expect much from him as a freshman, but thought he had an incredibly high ceiling. For me, at least, nothing has changed in that regard. In fact, I like him even more now having seen his length at the 3, his ability to defend, and his tenacity on the court.

If you haven't watched any of his highlight reels (and I know some dismiss those out of hand) it might be worth it. Don't focus on the dunks or the shooting, look at how he plays defense, his shot-blocking, and the passes he makes. I think he has an incredibly high basketball IQ, and once he gets his body to catch up to his basketball brain, the sky is the limit.

100% exactly right on the money.

I hope that is the case as well.  The biggest improvement comes between his freshman and soph season.  If he does not get more PT time next year, he might be lost in the rotation.  Time
will tell.  Playground ball is much different than in season ball.

I hope he stays.   I saw what I expected to see out of Juan last year.    I saw an athletic forward with a lot of ability who needed to get stronger and needed to learn how to play the way Buzz wanted.   I saw a freshman with a lot of potential who played like a freshman and looked like a 4 year player who will be really special by his third year.

I just went back and re-read Juan's basketball bio.  Ranked 61st as a HS Sr.  Team finished 30 -2.  Great HS career.

Kid shows up as a frosh, and gets some minutes coming off the bench....not an immediate impact player.

My point is that how big of a transition it is for most of these highly rated HS players to D1 competition.

This thread, hopefully, is nothing more than than baseless, absent of fact, speculative thread that we all know so well.

Agreed.  We can't have the mentality that just because highly rated freshmen don't light it up immediately, that we should just discard them and move on to the next hot thing.
