This board will not be happy with Tokoto's response.  :)

I don't think this comes as a surprise to anyone and who cares about second place anyway?

Why not?   No one here thought for a very long time that MU had a shot at JP.    Buzz and the program somehow have managed to survive.

We weren't Jamil's second, or even third place school to start.

After Tokoto averages 4 minutes a game this coming season, and UNC reloads with a bunch of one and dones this fall, do we think he transfers to UW?

Good luck with that. Check out their sholarship players and tell me how many players played 4 mpg. Not to mention there's a ton of PT to be had there. They push tempo more than any other team (including Marquette) and sub guys 1-10 a ton. He doesn't have to be one of the best players there to see the court. It's not like Marquette where if you're not in the top 7 you're never playing. The best player will see about 30 mpg and the "bench warmer" will see 12. JP will get 12-15 as a freshman. Pretty darn good. Their team and tempo is absolutely perfect for his game. He won't need to knock down outside shots. He'll need to dribble the ball and dunk the ball. He can certainly dunk the ball.

Some people here are like little babies. "We weren't even 2nd place for him!" Shucks. All that matters is we weren't first. Then you have guys who, because he chose somewhere other than Marquette, he'll either have his talents hidden by Bo and suck at UW or he'll be overmatched and never find time where he chooses. If he chose Marquette we'd be having a circle jerk over the kid's athleticism and potential, saying how early he'd be leaving for the NBA, and how special of a player he'd be for MU, how he'll be right up there with Wade, etc. Now he's a scrub because he goes to UNC? What does that say about MU then?

I guess Hoop was wrong, nobody soiled their pants in the Sweet 16 game last year against UNC. In fact, it's a miracle we were even within 14 in the 2nd half. Guys who would be special at MU can't even see 5 mpg at UNC.

What a joke.

This couldn't be more false. At one point Wilson and his dad had scheduled a meeting to tell Buzz of his intent to play there.  Then he had second thoughts.  We were always at the top of the list.

His two other finalists just before he chose Oregon were Texas and MSU.  So it isn't false.

Good luck with that.

Only repeating what I read on the UNC boards.  Right now they have Tokoto penciled in as the last (scholarship) guy on the bench.

Leslie McDonald, Reggie Bullock and P.J. Hairston are ahead of him.

James McAdoo and Dexter Strickland will take time away from him.

He will play about as much for UNC and Jamil Jones plays for us.

Then when they sign four more burger boys this fall, how much will his PT go up his sophomore year?

The Tokoto era has not even started yet, so how do you know we survived?

Honestly, UW was always going to be second for JPT, but they were NEVER going to be first. Saying Wisconsin as #2 is the diplomatic response that satisfies 80% of the state. But I guarantee he would have went to Duke, Kansas, or even Marquette before he went to UW simply because of his emphasis on playing style, which UW is the opposite of what he wanted. Had he picked Duke, he'd say UW was #2. Had he picked Kansas, he'd say UW was #2. But if he ever transfers, I would crap myself if he transfers to his "#2", he'll go somewhere else that plays up-tempo.

UW will always be JPT's #2, and will never rise above that.

Yeah, that would be my take as well.

He will do fine there.  I wish we got Dekker.  Rated 13th in the 2012 class, he is a stud but MU wasn't on his list anywhere either.

The Wilson recruitment is actually an interesting one.  He was leaning MU but nonfamily influences were swaying him elsewhere.  I'm told Buzz's 1st recruiting call was regarding Wilson.  Buzz needed to rebuild the roster quickly.  Several months later Buzz said Wilson either had to take the scholly or leave it. I'm told Wilson was on his way to the Al to tell Buzz he was going to take it.  He never mAde it to the meeting and I'm not sure why.  At that point I'm told Buzz pulled the offer.  Call it what you want, but he was a hell of a lot closer to picking MU than MSU or Texas.  Eventually he realized he should've ignored those outside influences and went with his heart. Thus he is at MU

i've watched dekker play a lot of basketball.  i think he made the right choice to go to UW for college succes.  he's perfect for bo's system...will be interesting to see if he's able to get to the rim in college...if not, he's a slightly shorter version of novak.

My point is if you asked Jamil the same question that JPT the April before he went to school, it wouldn't have been "Marquette."

And I believe he was late because he was playing in a volleyball tournament.

Earl Tatum

Wrong Avid1010--Dekker could play Big East BB. He can handle the rock and shoot it. Also, not noticeable, HE CAN PLAY "D".

I beg to differ.  I wish we got Mitch McGary.  MU was even on his list somewhere, at sometime.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

And in some cases, men who want to become The Man.

If Jae wants to say it, fine. He's earned that right. When you and your little buddy go there, not so much.
