 Has anybody been to the Maui Classic? I am probably going to go and was hoping to hear about the Classic first hand. Is anyone else going to be there?

I will be going with about 4-5 other guys from the class of '09.  We try to hit a road game once a year, have been at the last two games in Nashville.

I am making my own travel arrangements so I won't be getting tickets with a package deal. Is it easy to get tickets, does anyone have a recommendation as far as getting them in Maui or buying them before I leave? Any information would be welcome. I was in Maui many years ago when my wife and I had no children, for this trip we will have our whole crew, ages 4-12, with us so suggestions for family activities would be welcome. I am just slightly less excited than my 12 year old son. Go Warriors.

I would skip the road to Hana. Did it once and it was essentially just 9 hours in the car... Though the cd tour guide was pretty cool when he said it would start raining and it did.

Watched fourth of July fireworks at cool cat, fun spot to hang out.
Anywhere in lahaina or kaanapali is good. hula grille has a great outdoor bar on the beach, good place to grab a drink and check out the sunset. Dukes is next door or attached, can't remember, but live music most nights.

Snorkeling or surfing anywhere in Maui is always fun. If you have an extra day get over to pearl harbor, long lines but worth it if you only go once.

Obv the golf there is fantastic as well... Enjoy!

Definitely do Hana.  Rent a convertible and leave kids behind.  Hit the red sand beach and black sand beach.  At the end of the road there is an old Hawaiian village.  Very cool.

And when you hear/read that you're NOT supposed to take the "other" route back from Hana, ignore that.  It's semi-unpaved here and there, but we risked it and it was a unique ride.

We drove far past Hana, and stayed longer than we should have.  We didn't want to take the "other" route back in the dark so we turned around and came back the way we got there.  Doing 600 hairpin turns around sheer walls and dropoffs while crossing 54 one lane bridges in pitch black really gets your attention.  An hour after we got off the road they closed it due to the tsunami. (We didn't  hear about it until we got back to the hotel.)

Our favorite stop on the road is the Keanae Peninsula.  OMG views.  Best banana bread.  Good bathrooms.

Oh, and the biggest crime on Maui is car break ins.  The recommendation is to take your stuff but leave your car unlocked.  At least you won't get your windows smashed in.  In fact, leave the windows down.

Check out the Banyon tree in Lahina.  It's one tree that occupies a city block.  Amazing.
