Men's Basketball Celebrates 2011-12 Campaign With Awards Banquet

The Marquette University men's basketball team officially concluded its 2011-12 campaign Wednesday night with the squad's annual awards banquet, held this year at 1451 Renaissance Place in Milwaukee.

Wow. All the kiddies get trophies! Hope Mom packed the orange wedges and juice boxes for after the banquet.

For all the flak that Junior received from the fans.  Racking up the 10th best single season assists spot in MU history is a hell of an accomplishment given the pg's mu has had in the past.

Just wait until they get their rings for making the tournament...

Who presented Jae with the MU Scoop STUD OF THE GAME Award for 2011-12?

Any word on when the Banner commemorating the dinner will be hung at the BC?

ZiggysFryBoy

The award list does seem a little I4ish.

Where's the Riley crean hustle Award?

TallTitan34

Well you guys are only going to get more and more pissed as long as Buzz is here seeing as there will be a new award each year.

In 2009, Buzz's season motto was "Just Today".  Wes won it and the award was named after him.

In 2010, Buzz's season motto was "WDYL 1%".  Joe won it and the award was named after him.

In 2011, Buzz's season motto was "Only Now Exists".  Jimmy won it and the award was named after him.

In 2012, Buzz's season motto was "Sacrifice for the String".  DJO won it and the award will be named after him.

It's an awards banquet.   It is for celebrating a successful season.   What a bunch of fishwives.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

+ 1 Tower.

People here seem to think they are coddled because everyone got an award?  Buzz constantly rips these guys in the media.  At Marquette Madness last year he told Jamail he didn't know why people were cheering for him since he never got of the bench.

DJO didn't receive practice gear one year because he missed boot camp since his foot was in a boot.

BINGO.

To be honest, the awards I don't have a problem with. It's publicly handing out rings for making the tournament. That, to me, is totally absurd. Makes the program look small-time.

PTM has no problem "sacrificing for the string," if ya know what I mean, aina?

I thought the rings at Marquette Madness were for the Sweet Sixteen appearance, not just making the tournament. Did they get tournament rings at the banquet?

They got them after Buzz's first season as well. Handed them out at Buzz's BBQ.

Great event at the Renaissance Place. Hope they keep it there!
Yes, a good event.  Though it should be at The Al or the Union.  Renaissance Place was a really awkward venue for this event ( along with parking issues ).

I'm disappointed that they got rid of the Olouma Nnamaka Constitency Award.

Past winners included Chris Grimm, Ousmane Barro, and everyone's favorite, Dan Fitzgerald.

And they took Bart Miller's name off of the Academic Excellence award. Outrage.

But it was BOOT camp.  He was the only one who came prepared.

The way to dignify this would be to have Tony LaRussa or a Harbaugh hand them out
