To me, the one positive of the Buzz-to-SMU/Buzz-vs.MU Administration freak out is that...

It's really shown me how much everyone loves the guy (IMHO). I mean, call me crazy, but if this were Crean...hell, it WAS Crean every summer...I don't recall seeing this much chatter defending him and saying how much they love him.

Obviously, he had fans and supporters and I was one. But I didn't see this enormous amount of support.

But, the one good out of all of this is seeing how many people love Buzz.

And the administration was shown were buzz stands with the fans.

Nobody loved Crean. Some may have enjoyed his run, appreciated him being here when Wade was, but NOBODY loved Crean. He's an ass. Absolutely and without question.

Almost everybody loves Buzz.

Goose

ZFB....Exactly correct. Most times stuff goes down nobody knows and admin can play it cool. This was a time that they possibly got the message from the fannies in the seats.

All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

No, but I'd be surprised if Larry Williams and Scott Pilarz didn't both get at least 200+ emails today as shows of support for Buzz Williams.

Rocky or Spiral should fire up the MUScoop dot matrix and print out the monster thread and snail mail it to Larry.  Just in case.

Would be interesting to know what their reaction was to the emails.

Not that we need to debate this, but that statement is mostly false.  Let's remember that most Marquette fans, 5-10k in the Bradley Center, plus tens of thousands of casual alum fans .. had no idea who Crean was beyond his television persona.

Him and Joanie were royalty to 95% of Milwaukee.

And I'll go on record I did not hate him at the time.  I disliked our perennial one-and-done performances and thought he'd reached a ceiling .. and I'd heard some anecdotes that he was harsh with personnel, but otherwise thought he was a decent human -- and I spend a few hundred hours a year reading MUScoop and "should know better."

Goose

TC overstayed his welcome and left at right time for everyone. I do agree Topper that most people have no idea about a guy aside from they see on TV or read in the paper. I learned to dislike him over time, mainly because of the one and done.

I accept that many people were on his side. But did anybody have a real affection for him? I find that hard to believe. The somewhat minor hysteria when he left was more about how he did so, not that he was gone. Just my opinion. I said it then (ad nauseum) he has zero charisma. Buzz has it in abundance.

That is a bad idea.  First, it would probably fry the dot matrix.  Second, there's some stuff in there he probably needs to be sheltered from.

The MUScoop dot matrix was fired years ago.

I met him in the Milwaukee airport and he was very nice.  I have heard many horrible stories, but the few times I was around him he was decent.  Of course that is his public persona, but I was bummed when he left.  Not so much not, but at the time.

Could you be more extreme.  You sound like the guy that is stunned at the election results after you state everyone you know voted for the other guy and therefore you guy couldn't have possibly lost.  The answer is usually somewhere in the middle.  If there were 500 stories of him saving babies and paying for orphanages it wouldn't change your mind.  Not everyone shares your opinion so to say nobody and without question is nothing by hyperbole.  There are some people that don't care for Buzz's Aww Shucks approach either and think it is all and act.  Again, the answer is usually somewhere in the middle.

There is some MASSIVE revisionist history going on on this board the past few days.

Brace yourself, it's really harsh.  He spoke about his basketball coach in a tone as if Larry Williams was Buzz's boss.  Can you believe it?

I once saw the old rivals board open on Cords's computer circa 2002. I was there for a meeting. The athletic department follows this board.  I'm 95% positive Williams or Broeker reads it every day.
