Crowder foul trouble in first half. Underrated Florida defense on DJO, bad rebounding. Florida had more scorers than us to be sure. I dont think we were horrendous. We had a bad night.

DJO and Crowder were two all timers at MU IMO. Both will be in the league next year.

Our perimeter defense was horrendous; our on ball defense wasn't though.  Most of Florida's attempts from 3 were wide open, and frankly we could've easily been blown out if they hit their normal percentage of those.

I can honestly say you have been one of my least favorite posters over the ages, but I give you kudos for this post. Very much agree; was not our day.

We should make out some time.

How many in and out 3's did Crowder have? I just wish they weren't in such a hurry to shoot from outside.

Translation (IMO): Marquette is a better team. They just couldn't make a basket.

+1.  This killed us.

It  is ok to lose badly.  I am more concerned about what will happen when the 720 stuff leaks out

Was Hoopaloop banned?

Agreed. Just never got untracked. Another very good year though. Have always said if we enter tourney as a top 4 seed, or go to the Sweet 16, it's a good year. Well, we did both. Would love to have another game or two, but only one team wins 'em all. As a fan, I'm good.

Dr. Blackheart

With Otule and Gardner injured to go along with two open bench slots, this team was fatally flawed in the half court game against the zone.  Buzz did a masterful job again piecing it all together, and the effort of the team to fill in was superb.  Jae just had a masterful season of the ages, and DJO as a1st teamer.  Jwilson grew tremendously and Todd matured as the year advanced.  Focus on improving the defense was great to see.  Paradise Jam trophy and second place in the BEAST.  Victory in Madison.

Next year MU is deeper, taller, longer and more specialized....yet we will miss our two Warriors!

Missed opportunities. Bunnies (Juniors assist to DG from point blank) to TOs after turning FL over.

Throwing the ball away into their pressure and missed FTs.

MU could have won this game.

Foul trouble to Crowder and Cadougan took MU out of its rhythm.   Good looks, nothing fell.  Frustrating, but it wasn't lack of effort or even so much what Florida did.   Just a bad shooting night.

if mu was going to lose, i was okay with the way they lost this game.  they simply didn't hit, and the two seniors had the opportunity to make the difference and just had bad nights.  i don't think they were cheated, or buzz failed to put them in a position to win.  if we played a 5 games series with FL i think we'd come out just fine, but this is what makes the ncaa tourney fun to watch on the whole.

if mu is good enough to make the tourney next year...then i'm really excited for 2013-2014 when "everyone's" back but junior.

connie

While "ok" with the loss and appreciative of the year's accomplishments, this was SOOOO frustrating.  I know I felt helpless watching shot after shot fail to fall.  Any type of little run and they are right back in the game. I can only imagine how tough it must have been on the floor.

Any basketball follower with reason and rationality could not argue with that statement.

It was a night where MU couldn't drop a lick.

We could have won this game, but we also could have easily lost by 20.  Florida didn't have a great night either.  They just have more ways to win than we do.

GGGG

PRN hit it on the head.  Terrible shooting night.  Part of that was Florida's defense, but they had looks they had been knocking down all year.  Shot selection could have been better at times, but not much else you can add.

frozena pizza

If you had told me going in that Florida would miss 20 three point shots and we would win the turnover margin and get more FT attempts I would have expected a 10 point win.

I heard Bilas talking about MSU this morning and his thoughts translate to Marquette as well. He said that when a team shoots a significantly worse FG% than their season average, you obviously give some credit to the opposing D, but simply having an "off" game shooting the ball has just as much to do with it, if not more.

MUMac

To me, the difference in the game was Beal.  He shot 8 of 10 overall and 3-5 from 3; was 2-2 from the FT line, 6 rebounds, 4 assists 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.  No one had anything that resembled that line from either team.  MU needed one to at least match that.  Thought it could have been DJO and Jae – which would have been for the win.  If either had a line like that, MU still wins.

Stronghold

I agree with the title... we were there, we just couldn't find 'it'.  Florida played good enough to beat us playing at the level we did, so credit to them.  Nothing bad to say about Florida; one of the great coaches in the league, exciting to watch, stud (lottery pick) in Brad Beal who showed his colors last night.  I thought it was a pretty clean game as well and have no complaints about the Gator players.  We are Marquette

This was our chance to make the Elite 8 and we totally blew it. We missed soo many open shots (including some easy layups). You can't win when you don't make easy, open shots.

KenoshaWarrior

Your right this was not lack of effort, just a bunch of in and out shot that crowder usually makes.  sometimes i feel that our team freaks out when having to play Good teams from a Big time conference other than our own.
