Losing always sucks, but at least its out of our system. The coaching staff will use this as a late season teaching tool and I have to believe our seniors will use this as extra motivation.

MattyWarrior

Cashmere Wright was 0 for 7 and we outrebounded them, but the blocked shots in close killed us

Really? We need psychological ploys at this part of the season?

I wouldn't call it a psychological ploy...especially when it's our guys using it as motivation. Jae and DJO are very competitive and I'm confident they'll rally the team around this.

Finishing 2nd in the Big East wasn't enough?

Positives? Really? Out of this debacle?

Um ... we don't have to entertain any more silly talk about us being a No. 1 seed?

And nobody else got hurt that we know of.

Best I can do.

Lennys Tap

1.Todd Mayo (we're gonna need him going forward) made a shot other than a layup/dunk or a three off the backboard.
2.Nobody was hurt.

4everwarriors

Won't have to entertain any more silly discussion about being a 2 seed or runnin' the table.

We play a game that resembles the way we played tonite in the tourny and we are done...terrible passing and no mid-range shooting or help defense. I don't care who's on the floor..

4everwarriors

Big team playin' an active zone plus poor shootin' would do it.

We also won't be playing a team at home fighting just to get in to the tournament.

Then again, let's hope we don't face a Utah State in Boise or a Washington in San Jose, the last times we faced double digit seeds in the first round...

True we won't be playing road games, but every team we do play will be playing to keep their season alive. Tourney games aren't going to be any easier.

Wouldn't the same apply to MU?  Or does it just apply to the other team?

Why not?

If we win out, we're still a 2 seed.

We know this team has the capacity to play at a very, very high level.  We've seen it many times this year.

A lot of our downfall last night was due to mental mistakes....turnovers, lapses on defense, etc.

If "psychological ploys" is the right term for what the coach needs to do, so be it.  The team needs to refocus on what's made them so successful so far....what they've been doing....to get back on track.

I'm sorry, but I think "this is a good loss because it helps the team refocus" is one of the dumbest cliches in sports.

One positive from last night is we still have another game on Saturday.

tower912

Have to agree that about the only two positives were that nobody else got hurt and Mayo made a jumper.    Time to move on.   Bygones.    Let's beat Georgetown and send DJO and Jae out in style.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

PVMagic

In a 35+ game season, you're bound to have a couple of clunkers.  Sometimes, it's against a crappy team in the safety of the Bradley Center and you escape with a win.  Sometimes, it's against a team that's tournament quality, on their court, on their senior night.

It's not a good loss.  But it's not a bad loss, and if we beat Georgetown, it won't cause worry or really matter.

UticaBusBarn

It is one game. Obviously, they Warriors were emotionally flat. They have been playing at their maximum for weeks. It is over. This one at a time focused team will move on to prepare for the Georgetown game. We should do the same.

winning is fun, losing sucks, thats all the psychological ploy they need

hairy worthen

If someone had said on 2-17 before the ucon game that we would be 2 and 1 in our next 3 road games against tough and desperate teams, at tough places to play, I bet most everyone would have taken that. That is the positive.
