Judging by his latest tweets. Says in response to someone that he still has trouble bending it.   https://mobile.twitter.com/igetbuckets_54

strotty

Could also be that it has been in a brace the past two weeks and he's finally getting to move it around a lot, making it tough to bend. Many possibilities on what it means...

Canadian Dimes

dont follow his tweets but looked at the link...i would say based on his post from yesterday that he is working out to be encouraging

jsglow

Reading way too much into a tweet.  He starts with 'doin' better'.  We'll see on Saturday.

It depends, sir, on what you mean by 'bend'!  ;D

Saw him walking around on campus today. Was still limping pretty good. I wouldn't count on him, but I'm no Doctor.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I saw DJO yesterday and he was limping pretty bad too (no joke), but you never know what these dudes are able to power through.  They're some tough cats :)

The team have put themselves in good position, no need to rush him back for Saturday. If he's ready, by all means I would love to see him, but if there is any doubt, hold off and reevaluate for next Friday at WVU.

This tweet doesn't lead me to believe one way or the other with regards to him playing on Saturday. It sounds like he is still working on getting to full flexibility. Could take one more session with the trainers, could take another week. Who knows? Twitter is such a crap resource for determining these things.

Ha, I've heard the exact same thing for the Cincy game and UCONN game. Maybe we should just hold off on playing him till the 2012-2013 season. I'm sure his knee will be feeling better by then. But who knows, they might want to sit him against a Winthrop or Mount St. Mary's before the Wisconsin game.

Buzz was asked about it on his TV show last night, and said after watching Gardner's individual workout on Tuesday that it is his gut feeling that he will not play on Saturday.

Let him heal.  I would rather lose to UConn than have him return too soon, reinjure it, and have him lost for the dance.

He's going to need a couple of games to get his form back, so the sooner he can get minutes the better.  I'd start getting him some PT if they think the risk of re-injury is low.  This team has taken on a new identity without its centers, so working him back into the mix will be just as important as him being 100% healthy.

I rather not rush him back. I do not think he will be a difference maker in the Uconn game. Even with Gardner we do not physically matchup with their front line. We win with or without Gardner, if we turn them over, shoot well and do not turn the ball over ourselves. With or without Gardner I suspect we get crushed on the boards.

That is what I have found myself thinking before too, but then I think about the long scoreless droughts Marquette tends to go on on a gamely basis and he's the guy who I feel confident will stop it no matter what.  Instead of going 4 minutes with 0 points, he helps to break those runs, whether it's getting a layup or getting to the free throw line.  Once that happens, other people seem to start scoring.  That is where I think the biggest difference is with the team without Gardner.

Yes, I agree.  I think people are not worried enough about Uconn.  To me Gardner playing (assuming he plays around 10-15 minutes) is a big factor that sways the result of the game for me.  It allows us more versatility offensively, and although not a great defender, UConn has enough size that any big body willl help.  I feel like this game is poor timing, and is ripe for the upset.  UConn might be coming around, and it would be nice if this isn't their breakout game, but I'm thinking it will be if MU doesn't come out with scorching intensity.

At some point, you have to worry if he's going to be able to shake off the cob webs and contribute down the stretch. He needs to come back really soon. If he has to miss the UCONN game, fine, but beyond that we're danger territory.

tower912

What cobwebs?   Being 280?   His vertical?   His high screen hedges?   His speed down the floor?   Lob him the ball.   He turns, he shoots through whoever is defending him and makes the layup?    His game is not predicated on speed, touch, wind, intricacies of the offense, or defensive ability.   When his legs will support him without unduly risking further injury, let him come back.   Off of the bench.   For 15 mpg.

I was thinking more along the lines of ball-handling, moving his feet in the interior, having a general feeling of where others are on the court, etc. All those things that you get more comfortable with each passing game.

bilsu

Gardner is uncanny how he can move with the ball. I wonder how effective he would be at this, if his knee is hurting. I do not think he helps much with a bad knee.
