Not to turn this into a Tom Crean thread, but I'd like to voice a few opinions.

I forever will appreciate what Tommy did for MU.  Crean brought light to our program arguably since Al back in the 70's.  In 99 Marquette was in the basement cellar and not even looking at the NIT.  Because of Crean we have the Al McGuire Center, we got to witness basketball greats like Travis Diener, Dwyane Wade, Wes Matthews, Dom James, Steve Novak, etc.  I've notice on the thread i presented "Favorite MU player" a lot of these guys are on that list. Let us not forget because of Dwyane Wade we are one of the few teams in the nation to be sponsored by Michael Jordan. (which I'm sure can be appealing to recruits)

So I for one will be cheering against Becky, I will always hate Wisconsin, and will not cheer for a team just to make MU look better.  We have the talent where we do not need to scoreboard watch, and I feel we can win the BEAST this year.

Go IU

I can agree with the bolded part.  I defended Crean when he was here because he was OUR coach.  I'm glad he took the program in the direction he did.  However, now he is a competitor.  He tries to usurp DWade.  He competes with us for recruits in the Midwest.  If he gets IU in the tourney we will likely end up in the same regional competing for the same national title.  A strong IU benefits MU in no way, shape, or form.  I think about what benefits MU and nothing else.  A Bucky win tonight boosts our RPI and hurts IU, both of which benefit MU.  Pretty simple logic.

I understand where you're coming from Jamailman, however I hate uw-Madison, always will.  Watching crean succeed over Bo to me is a positive for me.  In retrospect to your arguement, Bo recruits IN STATE prospects, so it's not just the Midwest.  We agree to disagree, but never in my life will I cheer for that school.

Hey, I picked the meteor.  This is my best case scenario if that happens to miss.  I despise UW too.

Plus, with the systems Buzz, Crean, and Bo run, we're more likely to compete with Crean for recruits than Bo.  Bo likely had no shot at a guy like Burton, while Buzz likely had little shot with Dekker, regardless of what state they were from.  We recruit nationally, IU recruits nationally.  Bo recruits lower Canada.  Not as much overlap with MU/UW anymore recruiting-wise as one might think.

39-36 with under 10 minutes left, and 9 slow white guys on the court passing it around and milking clock.  For the record, my TV is on mute and watching something on the computer, this game cannot hold my attention.

I'm cheering for Indiana. I think time has kind of healed the wound for me. I still don't want Indiana to do better than MU and will root against them for the most part, but don't care as much

. Looking back, I think a lot of the animosity towards Crean is the uncertainty, at least for me. With Crean you knew we were at least relevant and had some very good years. I was worried with a bad hire we would fall off. If I knew now the success that we would have under Buzz and how the last few years have gone, I wouldn't have been nearly as anti-Crean when he left.

I'd rather be celebrating the Rose Bowl with some assistant athletic directors.

No exit was how you felt it you were stuck inside the Kohl tonight (most nights). Hard to watch basketball.

I’ll never understand this “uncertainty”.  It was reported late in TC’s regime that MU’s spending on basketball was 5th in the nation.  The University has made an incredible commitment to the team.  In addition to resources, standards were changed, how many prop 48s or Jucos did KO / Deane recruit?

TC arrived at MU at a great time for him.  Dick Strong had just gotten involved with the program (money) and Fr. Wild was finally  situated at O’Hara Hall (commitment).  Furthermore MU was just 2 years removed from the NCAA Tourney (plus a conference tourney championship) and 14 months removed from a Top 25 ranking.  We were very much leaking oil but we weren’t dead.  Dead is what KO found in 1989.  KO had to battle the University as well a ND, Michigan, Duke and Kansas.  When TC asked he got “Yes”, when KO asked he got “Who? What? No.”

This is not to say that TC was a bad hire.  For the coaching class of ’99 we hired the right guy.  This is to say though that he was always replaceable and MU is successful because of how MU is presently structured and not because of one coach.

I cheered for Bucky last night for the same reason I was cheering for Ole Miss.  It never hurts.
