More overreaction by our fans

If someone thinks Vander shouldn't be playing in critical points in the game, that means we hate him and he sucks.  At least that's the translation that a few have here (even though Buzz came to the same conclusion).  If someone opines that DJO won't make the NBA, that means they hate DJO?  What the hell is wrong with some of you?  It's an opinion.  This is a board with people expressing opinions.

No wonder so many have left, why deal with the crap when someone posts an opinion and then they are challenged for their fandom, their integrity, whether they are a human being, etc.    http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=29474.msg347760#msg347760

Can we have a forum where legitimate opinions are ok or not?  Who gets to decide what the legitimate opinions are?

MU 82 very respectfully feels that DJO won't be an NBA player (I think he's probably right). One (1) poster that I know of (GOMU85) claims (I certainly hope with sarcasm) that this means 82 is not a true Marquette fan. Please don't mistakenly use this to jump  on your soapbox again (and again and again and again) to rail against the injustices heaped on those whose opinions don't toe the party line. No even semi reasonable person is prevented from expressing his or her opinion here. Now, if 82 said he didn't think DJO would make the NBA because he was a low BBall IQ good for nothin Juco choker who peed all over himself, some here might take offense. If that conflcts with your concept of fair play so be it.

mosarsour

This thread has taken an entertaining turn. I feel DJO has a shot as a late 2nd round pick, but I don't see a team that is going to draft a 6'2 shooting guard (McNeal *cough*).

Based on GOMU85's comments for the last week regarding all the "fake fans" on the board, I'm pretty sure it's not sarcasm.  Other than that I agree with your post though!

Updated NBA mock draft still has him in the First-Round

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2012/

Just as I suspected, DJO is not having as good a year as he should because he is concentrating on his draft position!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

You may be right, but if he feels that way he's the only guy here on that wacky island. Given Hoop's predeliction for defending the outrageous, he should be defending GOMU85 for his unpopular opinion.

You have used the ignore function unintentionally before?

Yes.  I'll occasionally read this board on my iphone and when I try to scroll down I accidentally hit the ignore button and my phone thinks I am tapping ignore instead of scrolling.  I usually don't figure out I did it until I'm reading posts on a computer days later and cannot figure how how/why I ignored somebody.

Nice.

I don't like the McNeal comparisons. He's much more of a complete offensive player and a much better shooter. I know jerel shot it well his senior year but his release was slow. DJO's game translates much better in the NBA. He'll struggle defending but if you can score they find a spot for you.....which is why Novak is still in the league.

bilsu

I did not bother to read all the posts on the topic. I do not believe we have any DJO haters. Maybe some doubters. I certainly doubt that he will be a first round draft choice. although, I would love to have him drafted in the first round. I also would love to have him have less tournovers. That is not hate.

🏀

You are all racist if you think that former JUCO guard DJO will not be drafted in the first round.

MattyWarrior

The woooorst flaw he has is driving into the middle of the lane and and turning it over, he needs to leave that move to Mayo

Oh grow up.  "Not a real Marquette fan?"  Because we don't think he's a NBA talent?  I hope he proves me wrong.

Ignoring the 'not a fan comment'. I think he's correct that you haven't thought an MU player would get drafted since wade.

Dr. Blackheart

In BE play, DJO takes about 31% of MU's shots and leads the BE in points per 40.  That is Kemba territory.  However, his turnovers and offensive fouls are up on his dribble drives, limiting his minutes and effectiveness.

DJO has very freakish twisting athleticism and a good touch.  He hasn't yet mastered his dribble drives nor is he a distributor, which at his height is what the NBA will look for.   Between the whirling dervish style and the implications of such (charges, turnovers, forced shots),  DJO may be a tweener for The League.  But it is that vortex energy that just may get him a cup of coffee.  Can't teach that as that ESPN video showed.

Except for Blue, he and others think he's a pro prospect so take it with a grain of salt.

Well so does Chad Ford, who listed Van as Mu's future pro and 59 in his top 100 draft board, so you can stop claiming it is simply a bunch of MU fanboys saying nice things about Vander.

Actually that's not true.  I thought Wes, Lazar, and JFB would be drafted in the second round - I was pleasantly surprised twice and disappointed once.  In fact I said that Butler could have a nice long NBA career as a Mbah-a-Moute type player.

I also have said previously that I think Jamil will be drafted, and I still think that's the case.

Well because they don't watch the games, they see him fill the stat sheet as a sophomore vs. the bunnies. I'm not going to get back into that but I've laid out the numbers and it's stunning. Notice there hasn't been much talk about him since conference play started. The really good players, pro prospects, increase their production vs. tough competition. Vander might turn out to be a solid player but it seems extremely unlikely he'll even sniff the NBA....the only way I see it is if he develops into a PG by his senior year.

Assuming he's also a DJO hater, he obviously doesnt think anyone on the team would get drafted.

Man alive, I really hope you are just getting your jollies by so blatantly trolling.  Just because someone thinks DJO's physical attributes and skill set might not translate to the NBA does not mean that same person can not think there are others on the team that have better physical attributes that may also gain the skill sets necessary to make it to the next level.
