Odd that the collective MUScoop didn't think Christopherson could do anything for us now gets excited about Jake Thomas.

Well done.  Afterall, the kid is merely an all-conference player in the Big 12 (rated #1 or #2 in just about every conference ratings system and ahead of the Big East).

This notion that the guy cannot guard anyone shows me that the experts on this board don't agree with the actual college basketball coaches in the Big 12.

Well, he WAS an all conference player, last year, when the big 12 was more like #3 or #4, and Iowa St. was really bad (3-13 in conference).  And can you produce any quote from a coach in the big 12 saying that Christopherson is a good defender?

I don't even really disagree with your premise...I think he would have been a useful player for us.  But your statements are 1) incorrect and 2) unsupported.

ADDED: The coaches actually thought so highly of him that they failed to put him on the preseason all conference first team or honorable mention after being given the honor last season.

This month's ESPN the magazine has a feature on Iowa State and the rise in the program with the transfers they have brought in.  4 players are featured in the photos in the article, and Scotty C is not one of them. Which is kind of odd, maybe after I read the article it will make more sense. But I guess ESPN doesn't think much of him either.

That's too bad.  He's had a couple big games and big shots lately.  19 points against Missouri, buzzer beating, game winning 3 pointer (and 17 points) against Oklahoma State.  He shoots 41% from 3 point land (DJO leads Marquette at 39%...but I forgot, Scott would've never been able to get his shot off in the Big East.  He's lucky he plays in such a weak, slow, unathletic conference like the Big 12...) and shoots 92% from the free throw line (Todd leads Marquette players who average more than 5 mpg at 79%).  Lord knows Marquette could use a ball handler who can step up to the line and put games away at the free throw line at the end of games.  When's the last time Marquette had somebody who shot above 90% from the free throw line?  Novak?

I never said he wasn't a good player just simply found it interesting that they wouldn't give him the courtesy of a photo.  Considering all you have mentioned (all conference, scoring, etc.)

Did I say something wrong?  Looks like my response to you was deleted but I am not certain why.

The coaches in the Big 12 for the preseason only pick honorable mention and first team.  A total of 12 players.  The actual awards for the Big 12 for all-conference are 29 selections.  A first team, second team, third team (accounting or 18 players) and then honorable mention.  Christopherson not making the preseason selections is not surprising.  Nor would it be surprising if he makes the final list at the end of the year because there are many more actual awards than the preseason selections account for.

I don't think my comments are incorrect because he is a reigning all-conference player.  The new team isn't selected until the season is over.
