Where's that checklist of how the season is going to pan out?  Pretty sure this was one of the steps on our way to a top-mid tier finish in the BEast.  We should just have that thing stickied at this point.

Season checklist
(x) Non-conference near-miss against inferior opponent (sky falls on Scoop)
(x) Non-conference stinker to inferior opponent (more sky-falling)
(x) Non-conference loss on big stage convinces board MU not ready for Big East
(x) Unmentionable conference loss
( ) Road Game we weren't supposed to win
( ) Late surge
( ) Top-half Big East Finish

For those new to this, I put this list together after MU narrowly escaped defeat to Norfolk State in the Paradise Jam Final, as that game seemed to  parallel other early-season near-misses (Valpo in 2006, Bucknell, UWM last year come to mind). The other points in the season that have already hit on this checklist were LSU and Vanderbilt.

Tonight's game definitely qualifies for the "unmentionable conference loss" in my book as when I first wrote the checklist, I had games like the DePaul game in 2010 and the Louisville game in 2011 in mind. "Hopefully "The Meltdown 2.0" is the only unmentionable loss of the season, and "Road game we weren't supposed to win" comes Saturday, and is not the only one of the campaign.
“These guys in this locker room are all warriors -- every one of them. We ought to change our name back from the Golden Eagles because Warriors are what we really are." ~Wesley Matthews

groove

we officially finished in the bottom half last year, 11th.

At a glance...

Road Game: Syracuse is the first big one, Notre Dame because of their winning streak at the Joyce, UConn, WVU and Cincy all also candidates
Late Surge: Might be a bit earlier this year, according to Pomeroy, we should be favored in every game we play from Jan 11 - Feb 11
Top-half Big East Finish: Sky is always falling after the first conference loss, but my response is Pitt, 'Nova, Providence, USF, St. John's, Rutgers, Notre Dame, DePaul -- No way we finish below ANY of those teams

Maybe a couple we could add...

( ) Senior Day Loss has us questioning NCAA chances
( ) Big East Tourney ends in ugly fashion, now really questioning NCAA chances
( ) Outrage/Inexplicable Joy over WAAAAAAY too low/high of a seed

;D Great list, BWSCC!
