New RPI Forecast: MU 1, OSU 2, Syracuse 3, Duke 4, Wisconsin 5, UNLV 6, Louisville 7, Kentucky 8, Bama 9, Florida 10

Currently Marquette is #3 in RPI, but St. Mary's is a fluke with just 4 games played.

Sagarin now picks MU to go 28-3, and game-by-game picks us as the favorite in EVERY game except a one-point loss to Syracuse.

We will lose a few more than that, but the ceiling is definitely there.

Now hopefully all these kudos don't go to the players heads in time to lose to Washington on national TV Tuesday!

That's why Buzz only lets the players celebrate until midnight, then start planning for the next game.  But us fans can celebrate longer between games :-)
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

UW at #5 with wins against Kennesaw State (310), Colgate (275), Wofford (203), Missouri-KC (176), Bradley (202) and BYU (48).

Let me rephrase. What exactly is rpi?
Rating Percentage Index, aka RPI, is how they rank teams based upon wins and losses and its strength of schedule.

Its a team's winning percentage (25%), its opponents' winning percentage (50%), and the winning percentage of those opponents' opponents (25%). The opponents' winning percentage and the winning percentage of those opponents' opponents both comprise the strength of schedule (SOS). Thus, the SOS accounts for 75% of the RPI calculation and is 2/3 its opponents' winning percentage and 1/3 times its opponents' opponents' winning percentage.
