How many peeps are on Scoop?

Mods I saw in the forum stats that there are X amount of posts by 5,853 members? Are those up to date and if so is it total members or just people who post?

Whatever the system says would be up to date .. and it's total members.  I imagine a quarter of those accounts are relatively dormant, and a quarter are actual posters, not lurkers.

During the early season we get about 2000 people visiting per day, as we get towards March and the NCAA tournament that number rises to about 4000 people per day.  Last March, the month as a whole we had around 20,000 people visit.

There are certainly a lot of inactive members, some duplicate members, and lots of people who have an account and never post.  Also a large number of people that read and have never registered.  But the numbers above are relatively accurate counts of people who visit the site.

We live in a land of free speech.   What gets forgotten, though, is that words have consequences.   Anyone can post here, but your posts have consequences, they give everyone a perception of you and create biases toward and against you.   And if your speech is inflammatory enough, the moderators who run the place can choose peace and quiet.   It's their site and their rules.   Chicos' words and actions had consequences.    He chose his fate.
