For anyone who thinks McKay committing means we're done for 2013...

Roy Schmidt @prepbullseye: Can finally confirm that not only has Marquette offered 6'9 2013 PF Tommy Hamilton but r currently in top 3 along w/ Arizona & Michigan St.

Seems a likely top-20 player, Hamilton is very, very good. Would improve our length even more on a team in 2013-14 with 5 guys at 6'7" or taller.

Top 20 in Illinois.

AirPunches

Saw him play twice this spring on the Mac Irvin team. He looked bad in the first game and was about 0-8 from three. Second game he played inside more and had a much better game with a lot of dunks and drop step moves to the basket. He's a great athlete and has a college ready body so it's not hard to believe he's being looked at by some top schools. Would be a great sign.

Nope he is a McDonald all American caliber player

THEultimateWARRIOR

Rated 45 in the Rivals 150. Interesting to see Kendrick Nunn up to 22. What ever happened with him he seemed set on MU.

Groin_pull

I assume he stepped back to explore his options and MU moved on. Can't wait forever and miss out on other quality players.

Yes, his father played and was a star there.

As Lenny's Tap has pointed out Thomas Hamilton was not a star at Illinois.

Quote from: nyg on October 07, 2011, 08:43:54 AM
I'll agree with that, used wrong term, but the fact his father went there will help them.

Thomas Hamilton , in fact, never played for Illinois as he was academically ineligible, and transferred to Pitt where he also never played.  So he neither starred, nor sucked as a college basketball player, he was a no show.

I'm skeptical that that result will give Illinois much of a leg up in recruiting.

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I beleive those that feel we will sign a big and a PG with the next 2 openings are using flawed logic.  We will have 3 pgs in the program next year.  We will have two the year after that and they will both be sophomores.  Unless, Buzz decides throughout the course of this year that D. Wilson is simply not a BE PG and that TJ Taylor rated a 94 on ESPN can no longer get it done he will not necessarily need a PG.  Not to mention it can be more difficult to bring in a big time Frosh PG when there are 2 sophs on the roster.

My guess is Buzz signs at leat one 4-5, and a 2-4 with the other.  MY hope is for a 6'8"+ player this year and kendrick Nunn for next.
But then i could be wrong he might sign two PG's.

A slight correction, if your talking Derrick Wilson and TJ Taylor, they will both be juniors the year after next, and Duane Wilson will be a freshman, so we will have three point guards then.  Your point that Buzz would necessarily be looking for a PG with the next two openings not being true, still holds.

I think his dad was Tommy Hamilton - who played with Rashard Griffin (Madison) at Chicago King ages ago.

Wasn't Thomas Hamilton a former president?

I think the guy you're referring to was the first Secretary of the Treasury, and was called Alexander Hamilton.  At least that's what my cabinet members trading cards tell me.

I will guarantee Buzz recruits a point guard in the 2013 class.  I'm not sold on TJ Taylor being a full time point guard at this level especially since he'll have to defend the position and with Cadougan graduating in 2013, Buzz will add one.

If it was up to me I'd add Aaron Durley to this class and let him develop behind Otule and Gardner and then add a point guard to go with Deonte Burton in 2013.

That ship has sailed to TCU.

Don't believe everything you read.

Agreed, he's ranked on size, not skills.  Having a famous father, and playing at Whitney Young provide him with a much higher profile then he would otherwise have.  Still for a developmental big guy, not too shabby.

FWIW, the proud Whitney Young/MU alum, Cordell Henry, worked out with Hamilton's WY teammate Jahlil Okafor back on May 29ish:
