MMiller posted that Buzz was off to see him today at Whitefish Bay with Duane Wilson (2013).

This video proclaims him to be one of the top big men for 2015, not sure if any official rankings are out.

A few years off, but if things stay on track with him this would be a bellwether recruit IMO. The big we've always wanted, sitting in right in our back yard. Buzz will hopefully have a few sweet 16s under his belt by then. Will the BCS conference affiliation crap keep us from being competitive with top 20 recruits or will it prove to be no big deal and we have a real shot to land him?

GGGG

His name has been brought up here before.  (By me.)  I was told by Earl Tatum and others that he apparently has some work to do since he essentially overpowers everyone because he is so much larger than his competition.  Needs to learn how to work harder.

His dad played at UW-Whitewater.  Not sure if he overlapped with Jamil's dad - that would be helpful if that is the case.

Winning and putting guys in the NBA eliminates any problems with conference alignment.

Work harder might be understatement. Plenty of time to learn work ethic. Looks like he has being big down pat.

I agree to a certain extent, but it would be naive to think our current affiliation with the Big East, and how the conference is regarded, hasn't helped us gain recruits we would not have access to in CUSA.

Memphis would probably be your best argument, but I don't know if that is exactly a model program.

Showing my lack of high school basketball knowledge .. Dominican is a block down the street from me, so I thought, hey, if there's a game with a couple of MU recruits and Buzz, I should take a look.

It seems as if the HS BBall season hasn't begun yet...??  What would Buzz be looking at, a practice?

Blackhat

I think I saw her perform at Silk Exotic back in February.

Had a good bounce in her step.

My guess is that is how the vast majority of young big men are. They simply do not get enough work against guys their own size when they are that young. He needs to get out on the AAU circuit for a couple of years. That will give him some experience against guys his own size.

Your point is well taken, however. A lazy big man will never make it playing for Buzz.

ATL MU Warrior

he's got a pretty good left hand for someone that young.

In more ways than one.   ;)

That is kid is the embodiment of RAW.

Let's check in about a year or two.

Stumbled across this interview today.

Obviously have to appreciate the fact that he is around MU a lot. The talk about Duke has me hoping he doesn't blow up on the national scene. He dropped 26 the other night in the regional finals.

PS ncaachamps doesn't know what raw means when talking about big men. Kid has a smooth touch for a 6'9 frosh and looks to move well.

Cool interview. Could you imagine being on the other side of the net against him in Volleyball?

I was at the Pius vs. Vincent basketball game early this season in New Berlin and Buzz was there watching Deonte.  I was leaving the game and Buzz was directly behind me talking to somebody about Diamond.  Buzz apparently doesn't think he's very raw.  He was saying, "He's really good isn't he?  We watched him last year (as an 8th grader).  He's going to be the best guy to come out of here in a long time."  He knows damn well that Burton and Looney are both ranked in the top 30 in their classes, too...

Being across the net from Jamil Wilson would be even more intimidating.  Almost just as tall, but a lot more lean and athletic.  I believe he was First Team All-State.  He was also a long and high jumper in track at Horlick.

Devin Harris also played volleyball for Tosa East, I believe for just 1 year, and he made First Team All-State.

Does he have a white picket fence and puppy dogs in the front yard?  If yes, we don't want him.   ;)

boyonthedock

If he needs cracked sidewalks out front, i think i can personally make his neighborhood suitable for marquette recruiting with a jack hammer, ski mask, and a weekend if it means MU  gets an elite big man.

brewcity77

A few days back, I was looking around at the sites that are used for the RSCI. Some of them were ridiculously expensive, including hoopscoop.com which provides its services for an insane $499 per year (no, I didn't forget the decimal point).

Anyway...two things popped out. First, he has MU rated at #27 for next year, and considers TJ Taylor to be a top-100 player. Second, he has Diamond Stone rated as the #6 overall prospect in 2015. Granted, this is only one recruiting service, but it has me thinking this kid could be one of the bluest of blue chips.

Good information about Diamond Stone.  Buzz will make him a priority and we'll know in three years if Diamond wants to remain in Milwaukee for college or go elsewhere.  Same goes for Looney.

Funny what you find out about players.  I haven't heard one national TV guy talk about Jae Crowder and mention Jae's father being the NCAA Division II National Player of the Year and leading Kentucky Wesleyan to the 1989(?) Division II national title and Jamil Wilson's father being the inside presence for UW-Whitewater's 1984 Division III national title team.

Don't underestimate that UW whitewater connection.    ;)

Even this old Warhawk didn't know about the Wilson Whitewater connection.
