Quote from: Its DJOver on April 25, 2026, 08:56:55 AMDid the York City equalizer actually cross the line? I haven't seen anything conclusive and obviously no VAR in the National League.

I think the fact that none of the Rochdale players nearest to the ball protested is pretty indicative of the fact that it was clearly over the line.  But even if not for that, even if it was on the line, thats a penalty cause it touched both of the defenders arms.

Wrexham dream run ends. Three straight promotions ends a point off the playoffs. A lot of owners invest a ton of money into clubs without the immediate success Wrexham saw. I thought they'd struggle this season but yet again a bunch of shrewd signings saw them overachieve.

Arsenal/West Ham - wow, one VAR could have decided the EPL title & relegation

I mean, it was a pretty obvious foul.

I think it's more ironic cause EPL refs have been VERY lax on calling fouls on wrestling during set pieces all season.  Which is notable cause Arsenal has been super rough and tumble in defense constantly.  It takes 30 seconds to find 4-5 incredibly similar plays in the last month or 2 from Arsenal that would have resulted in opponent penalties.

It's like when refs have let the teams play all night in a college basketball game and then they call a foul late in a decisive moment.  It'a probably the right call by the book but it's been overlooked multiple times before that.

The Sultan

Eh.

It's a foul. You don't not call a foul because the other team benefitted from non-calls earlier.

Was a foul committed on Raya, yes.
Did Declan Rice rugby tackle a West Ham player on the exact same play, also yes. If you're using VAR to make one right call, use it to make both. Sincerely hope they tighten up what they do/don't allow, because the inconsistency is bad for the game.

All signs pointing to Mourinho returning Real Madrid, 13 years after he left.  At the very least its going to be absolute theater.  European football is always better when Jose has a mic in front of him on the biggest stages.

Funny enough, after mucking around in England for awhile, he's actually been quite good as of late.  He did really nice stuff with Roma, did fine at Fenerbahce (it was always going to be a race for 2nd behind Galatasary) and has been on fire at Benfica.  Took over a club in disarray to start the year, got them to the round of 16 in the Champions League, and has not lost in the league yet this year (Which doesn't speak highly of the Portugese Liga as they are still in 3rd)

Cristo Fernández, an actor best known for his portrayal of Dani Rojas in the hit Apple TV series, "Ted Lasso," has signed a contract to play professional soccer in real life.

The 35-year-old Mexican forward and actor signed with El Paso Locomotive FC in the USL Championship, the club announced Tuesday. The terms of the deal, including its length, were not disclosed. The deal is also pending league and federation approval, the club said.

US matches are usually always well attended/supported with rowdiness in Seattle.  Then add a West Coast venue which is appealing to the Aussies (who also have no issues traveling cause its expensive to get to anywhere from Australia/haven't been endlessly complaining about prices like Europeans) and it should be really fun.
