This will cause all sorts of headaches for many on this board.  ESPN only rated him a 77 one star.  Verballed to Texas Tech in April.  Lefty shooter with decent range it appears.

Seat next to Singleton on the bench... Red shirt?

I would think that with Faust on the market, and with Taylor/Ferguson coming in next year, that this is far from a certainty.

GOO

Lefty Shooter who has grown a few inches in the last year.  If he is now 6'7" and growing, it could be interesting.  Long arms.  A little thin?

Plus, you've got to wonder if Buzz would be in the business if swiping recruits out from under his friend, BCG.

Slim

"doesn't like to guard"

This information just doesn't make sense to me.

Excellent point. Forgot about that factor as well. This kinda seems like Tony Kimbro part II. We read two or three times that he was signing with MU and it never happened. Could see this being the same type of deal.

And "doesn't have any signs of a mid-range game."  So essentially he's a spot shooter who can't get to the basket who can't defend?  Sure doesn't sound like a Buzz prospect.

Sounds a lot like ZFFB in his Tuesday night game.   :D

Other than as a spot shooter, he actually makes baskets from time to time ...

Rumor right now.

A Texas Tech blog gave a run-down on the guy just last week:  http://www.doubletnation.com/2011/5/12/2131414/texas-tech-basketball-position-preview-small-forward

Merv Lindsay | 6-5/180 | Freshman

Lindsay is the latest commit for Texas Tech and after watching his video and reading a bit about his ESPN profile for a basketball program that is trying to pick itself back up off the bottom of the conference standings, I think that Lindsay is a good player that could transition into a good shooting guard or small forward for Texas Tech. Here's a bit from the aforementioned ESPN profile:
Quote
Lindsay has grown a few inches in the last year and it appears he may not be done as he is a young looking prospect. His frame is outstanding with long arms and he has soft hands. The left-hander has a smooth stroke out to 22-feet, especially in a catch and shoot situation. In addition, he is an astute passer who can find the open man in the half court site.
He seems to favor being outside, which makes me think that he'd be a better shooting guard than small forward. Either way, he's a long, lean athlete. Surprise. My thought is that Lindsay should be redshirted and not see a minute of time this year. He's a project and I think that Petteway and Gotcher are better players, right now, over Lindsay. Give Lindsay time to develop and maybe he transitions into a true small forward if he keeps growing with an outside shot, that would be a tough matchup for a lot of opposing teams.

Blackhat

Kid's probably on the Mbao plan.

Bring him in for a year, see if he can hack it. If he can't tell him he should go elsewhere if he wants to play.

I miss how awkward Yous looked playing the top of the 1-3-1 zone press.  Cracked me up every time.

Or when Buzz had to holler at him to start moving his arms when he was defending the guy inbounding the ball?  lol

Payback for when Buzz sent our potential walk on to Kentucky. He lasted one year at Kentucky.

i figured there'd be way more outcry over this. this seems to me to be a waste of a scholarship.

Is this someone's attempt at humor? Too bad I don't have any eligibility left.

Could be the next Mbao. Could be the next Jimmy Butler.

I trust Buzz's opinion more than I trust the opinion of any posters on here regardless of what Scout and Rivals tell them.

The only real way to waste a scholarship is to leave it open for a season.

You say that now, and I'd agree with you, but hell hath no fury like message board posters after an underachieving kid decides to transfer because he can't crack the rotation.
