Lasalle transfer Aaric Murray had plans to visit this weekend but sources have said he is visiting kansas. Does anyone know if he is still planning a visit with us?

TedBaxter

I think either the Marquette and DePaul visits the past two weekends were eliminated by Aaric Murray or the schools pulled out of the running.  Sounds like it's down to Kansas and West Virginia.

According to his twitter, last night was his last night in Philly "for a couple days," and it looks like he will be making a decision May 7.  He still might be coming to MU this weekend.

I don't believe he is. IWB said MU withdrew their interest a week or two back.
But I like to throw handfuls...

But MU had offered him in the past. I thought he was as good as signed!

Didn't the interest just start two weeks back?

This smells like we aren't good enough for Murray and we'll now play the "save face" game.

If he's not coming here, better to pull out than commit resources to a player you know you can't land.

How dare you criticize Buzz's recruiting prowess.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

After the Providence news, that's probably a good thing....

No, our (fans) knowledge of the interest may have started two weeks ago, that does not mean Buzz and Aaric's interest just started two weeks ago.  He announced he was transferring mid March.  MU had an initial interest.  There may not have been long term interest from either side.

To me, it smells more like Buzz wants someone else other than Murray.

I'm really starting to think Buzz holds the scholarship for 2012.  Not much out there at all and the few guys who are open who aren't sold on a few schools like Daniels and Lacey are high major reaches who wouldn't be in Marquette's playing rotation next year or ever.

Nope

Then give me a name of a player who would be worth Buzz offering a scholarship to who would be better than holding it for a loaded 2012 class.

I am thinking the same thing as well. I believe Singleton might get the last scholarship instead of being a walk on next year. I don't see us linked to anyone in 2011 that has us high on their list.

So look for a surprise signing (maybe from JC?) like Buzz has done every spring so far.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Mangisto Arop has received a release from Gonzaga and although he scored 15 points against MU last year, he's a 6-6 kid and that's the logjam area for Marquette in coming years.

Buzz can afford to be super selective and if you don't see someone that can truly help you, move on.  Unless there's a frontcourt transfer not known yet or some foreign player, I will be really, really surprised that Buzz will pull the trigger.

Gardner wasn't all that highly rated, and he didn't commit to MU until May 3 last year.  I highly doubt that Buzz leaves the scholie vacant unless he has some sort of transfer in mind.

You may be right.  If Singleton is as good as Wes mentioned after the ProAm he could have earned that schollie.  Even though it's a long shot it'd be nice to have another PG that already gets along great with the rest of the guys.

Yes, but Davante was on Marquette's radar for a couple months prior to him signing and the hiccup was whether he'd qualify.

I thought the hiccup was whether or not he would go to USF instead.  Are you saying there is no one on MU's radar like Ox was last year?  If so, you might be right.  We would have two additional scholies for 2012 assuming everything works out with Furguson.

muball

cant remember the name but he  played with Junior and is from Canada, would be a gradute student fifth year, 6 7 and decent player with one year and immediately eligible. WOuld need a major that he cant get at his present school. My guess someone like him.

4everwarriors

Singleton will not be scholarshipped.
