Jeter still being considered along with Frank Martin of K-State.

Martin would be an idiot to leave for Miami. I know its home, but that is considered one of the absolute worst jobs in a BCS conference. No commitment, or history of any.
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

The new AD at Miami is an MU Law grad, class of 1995.  WI connection with Jeter might make sense.

They do however, have the longest history of any school of girls in thongs -- a tremendous recruiting tool.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

WellsstreetWanderer

Briefly considered attending there because of the highly regarded school of waterskiing

All true. Martin has come out and said though that he'd consider to go there if they promised to upgrade everything, but for some reason they haven't even contacted him yet. That tells you all you need to know about the Miami Basketball Program.

Murray, as long as those chicks have the frozen ass look and not your basic cottage cheese.

The "lefty" in my screen name refers to my being a lefthander, not my political views.  It is great for a MU grad to get this position, even if he had to be a Badger first to do it.

Huh...their new AD is one of Barry's former assistants and the former AD at UW-Whitewater.  You'd think he would not try to be so incestuous.

Some of the comments under that story CBB linked are hilarious :D

This would be a great move for Jeter, but I still can't fathom why he'd even be considered, unless he has a previous relationship with Shalala. I'd be curious to see what direction UW-M went if they lost Jeter. He hasn't been great for them, but seems to have things (maybe) headed in the right direction. Losing another head coach could derail any hopes they have of getting back to the top of the Horizon.

And I mean that in a staying-capacity way, not like the blip of this year without getting a tourney berth.

Their AD Eichorst used to work at UW-Madison...he knows Alvarez and Bo...probably knew Jeter when he worked there.  He's a minority so it's not a bad idea to at least interview him.  Lots of connections.

Miami is a football school and doesn't intend on putting big money towards the basketball program in any form. Jeter would be a pretty good hire for them. He's a solid, young coach who has done a nice job at a school that is not easy to recruit for and doesn't have much basketball tradition.  He wouldn't face much pressure to win right away at Miami and would likely be given a fair amount of time to build the program. I've always liked Jeter and I'd like to see him get a shot in the ACC.
