Jimmy playing with Rick Jackson.

Its amazing how many of these good college players will never get an NBA jersey. Maybe 2-3 will be rotational guys at sometime in their career.

Refresh my memory someone please. Saunders was to be in the class with Mbakwe, Christopherson and Hazel, but got bumped due to an incident with marijuana, correct?

Well, TC's official statement was that it was because of grades...

Quote
"Unfortunately, Damian won't be able to be accepted at Marquette," said Crean. "His final grades and test scores were not at a level that was deemed appropriate for Marquette University. He's not through the (NCAA) Clearinghouse at this point. But this was more of a Marquette situation because of where he grades were at.

Nonetheless, since his grades ended up being fine (and he made it through the clearinghouse), it's fairly clear that "Marquette situation " was something other than grades/scores.

Oh yeah, and the fact that we had over-signed by 1 player that year.

Thanks Rocky. I'd forgotten MU had oversigned by one that year, too. That was the year James seemed pretty likely to be going pro, put his name in and then found out otherwise, right?

1700 division 1 starters every year and after international guys take roster spots maybe 40 college guys a year get and nba spot?

As for seniors, marquette is the only school in the country to four guys play four years and then go to the nba (diener, novak, matthews, hayward) so the 500 or so seniors that start every year really are a long shot.

Maybe 2 or 3 percent play nba a year?

No, it was the year after DJ tested the waters and came back. Crean apparently thought DJ was a goner after the next season,  his junior year, he oversigned. When DJ had a mediocre junior year and decided to come back, MU was left with more players than scholies.
And then, by the luckiest of coincidences, Saunders developed academic issues just before the start of the first semester.

If JFB gets drafted in the second round this year and DJO gets drafted next year, that'll be three players in three years.  Could give us some nice momentum for future recruiting.

Damian Saunders 52% free throw shooting wouldn't have gone over too well here.

Also, I noticed Jeremiah Rivers got an invite.  His 3.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg and 1.1 apg must have the NBA scouts drooling.  That, or his 22.2% shooting from 3-point range.  Wonder if daddy pulled a few strings?

And yet the best career as of late was one year earlier and an undrafted Wesley Matthews.  That one may help more than getting drafted in the 2nd round.

I love Jimmy Butler as much as the next guy, but if he gets drafted I'll eat my shoe.

Jimmy had 19 pts 4 rbds and 4 assists to lead all scores in his game tonight. Pretty awesome to see him having a great performance like that against some pretty decent competition with all those NBA scouts there. I could definitely see him getting drafted with his midrange game and toughness. Hopefully he'll find a team that fits him, and isn't the Timberwolves, although playing with Lazar might be nice.

True. But his rebounding numbers would have increased the dry cleaning bills of a lot of MU fans.

I can't find any video on Portsmouth besides a general report the local NBC affiliate put together.

JFB's defense alone warrants a long NBA look.

I'd throw in his court sense too as far as NBA potential.  Rarely makes a bad pass or puts up a dumb shot.

i know they already played a game, but I think Portsmouth Partership has a solid team. A lot of pretty sweet guards in Garrett, McConnell, and Mitchell

Mitchell put up 23 points in his 20 minutes last game, along with 1 foul, 1 to, 1 rebound and 1 assist... and 3 steals.  Not a bad line!

Jimmy led his team with 18 points tonight, as they roll 79-66 and head into the championship game tomorrow at 7pm CT.

7/11 FG, 4/4 FT.  5 boards, all offensive.  2 ast, 2 blks, 1 stl, 1 TO in 26 mins for JB.

Rick Jackson from the Cuse with 17 & 12 also for K&D, Jimmy's team.

The opponents got 17 from WVa's Casey Mitchell on 7/18 shooting and some guy named Damian Saunders had 6 pts (3/11 FG) and 11 boards.

K&D will face a Corey from Villanova in the finals... which one will be determined later tonight when Stokes and Fisher play each other.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

I loved that stat when it came out, but diener is no longer in the NBA.  We might be tied with 3.

Hopefully we'll be back on top with JFB.
