We are guarding ball screens perfectly right now.

Marquette has yet to show some of their full court press.   Wouldn't be surprised if they are saving it to keep Xavier on their toes in the second half.

Xavier forum is not giving any credit to MU defense.  Simply,  X had an atrocious 1st half vs. a "subpar" D.  AMAZING.

Hards Alumni

Absolutely.  We shut them down.  They had ZERO easy shots.  Except maybe the bunny where EW was out of position 2 min into the game.

Neither of Xavier's big men had made any 3s during the season. That allowed us to fade the high screens and stop penetration while covering the other guards on the perimeter. We were all over X in the first half and cruised. Excellent defensive game plan.

Excellent observations.  Our bigs didn't have to worry about their guy if he drifted outside at all.  We were also just physically bigger at the guard positions than they were.  And I don't mean taller...I mean physcially stronger.

Absolutely.  I was sitting pretty close to the court and Xavier's #25 took a foul from Vander early on in the game and he took offense to the contact, started jawing at Vander...it was apparent that Xavier was not used to that physical style of basketball...Vander held his own in that little confrontation with that guy and from then on Xavier was a little intimidated.

groove

we played like a bunch of hard-asses last night. loved it.
