Seriously does anyone have any real optimism we actually win? Before every road game against a good team we go over just how we may win and how the warriors got a good shot, problem is they all end the same. We lose it right at the end. Is there any reason to believe we actually win this game and get ourselves off the bubble(barring big letdowns)?

Now I'm still real confident that we make the tourney seeing as I think we beat Providence, win the big Cincy game and then find a way to win at SHU by doing basically what we did Saturday.

But with the troubles weve had, and some guards getting us its tough to be pumped for this game. We stopped Kemba pretty well at home and still lost because Lamb had his career game.

Sorry but I'm lookin towards the last 3 must wins. Anyone actually think different?

I'm always optimistic... I  still wouldn't bet on MU winning though. However, I believe in the saying "it's hard to beat a team twice" and MU winning there last year should give us some confidence. Plus, we're due for a game where we just play out of our minds (I think). And, I'm still hoping there is a game this year where DJO goes off for 25, 30+... maybe Thursday?

I agree with you though, our best shot at 10 conference wins is to win our final 3. But here's to hoping!!!

BM1090

Yes. Most of the contributors won in Uconn (I know, Storrs not Hartford) last year so it shouldn't be a mental hurdle. They know they need this game to take some of the pressure off of the final three, while Uconn probably gets in even if they lose out and finish 8-10. MU needs this game more.

Half of it is my head talking, and half of it is my heart. This would be just a huge win

I give us a decent shot.  UCONN is coming off a loss (to UL) and by the time they play us, they will have been off for 6 days.  Will they be rusty?  Hopefully.  Then again, MU will be off for 5 days, so not much better.

They've lost one game in Hartford this year, to Syracuse, but also got taken to OT by USF there.  They've lost one game in Storrs, in double OT to Louisville.

I thought we should have beaten UCONN in Milwaukee but went in the crapper.  UCONN can be had, but will MU do it?

I really have this feeling MU gets "W" on Thursday. I think going on the road and getting away from Milwaukee brings the team together and they come out with a statement game. UCONN hasn't really been playing that great of lately and I think we're catching them at a good time even though they're coming off a loss at 'Ville. I know UCONN has some good wins this year, but I'm just not sold on them for some reason this year...this is probably because they don't have that dominant frontcourt they've had in the past with guys like Jeff Adrien, Hasheem Thabeet, and Stanley Robinson. I think we're equipped enough to shut 'em down unlike past years despite Lamb going off on us last game.

PGsHeroes32

I do agree that this game can have the makings for something good. We are definitly due for a hot shooting game on the road(most teams get 1 of these) seeing as all our close loses on the road have been in gaems where we actually shot pretty poorly. Yes, DJO is due to go off, but hes too damn streaky during games and in stretches of multiple games. And yes, most bubble teams do get that big win late to settle the doubt(kinda like Louisville last year for us).

Even with all that I just think its tough. This game will probably frusterate the hell out of me since I dont see us getting pounded and a loss would be a close game, so Ill probably not watch and pray we do win and go for the replay afterwards.

gotta mix it up a bit

Let me say this .... if we win, we could run the table and finish 11 and 7.  If this happens, we could be looking at a bye in the BE tourney.  We might even get ranked.

If we win Thursday, we should just about be a lock for the NCAA.

The entire complexion of the season turns around if we win Thursday night.

Yes it does. the problem is if we lose we have to turn to desperation mode and win the final three. That said, I think they will pull one off against a Uconn team that is overconfident

Buzz's Tin

I have optimism. If we lose it won't be the end of the world because this is a game Uconn "should" win and a game we "should" lose. That being said, I think we can go in there and shock them. Let's go MU

Booing should also motivate a team to play better.

I just quoted that again to prove that you need more MU education before you go spouting off.  Keep with the classes, you'll figure it out eventually.

What makes you think he goes to Marquette?

I never understood the use of "haha" and "lol" on a sports message board during a serious discussion. I'm also a college student and it's painful to see younger generations being represented so poorly.

I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

NavinRJohnson

Why not? Am I predicting a win? No. Would I be at all surprised? No.

4everwarriors

Ah, I'd like to share you dudes enthusiasm. But, MU wins based on what? Maybe it's just me being cynical or maybe just reality. Marquette hasn't shown me anything this season (other than the Bucknell game) that suggests they're ready, willing, and able to turn it up a few notches when needed.

They can do it, but I believe they must improve on their 3 point shooting.  They are due for a good effort.

In four out of last five games they have shot:

2-12
3-14
3-12
3-16

Only exception was USF game when they shot 8-13.

mileskishnish72

Hope springs eternal. A big "W" Thursday would be sweet. UConn has a ton of talent, but occasionally they seem to do a bit of sleepwalking. It's finally a game that's easy for me to get to, and my Christmas present to myself was front-row seats for this one. We are - Marquette!

Golden Avalanche

Of course. There's always 50% optimism.

MU just missed the beat last time. They faltered down the stretch and let Lamb kill them. After that, UConn looked quite ordinary for a couple of weeks. But now, the key will be confidence. Back then it felt MU still had a shred of it which looks gone.

The problem is that with Lamb cooling off, Kemba has hit his second wind and they're getting major contributions from a "bust" recruit in Coombs-McDaniel (if only our "busts" could be that good). It could be a dangerous beating.

Zone them. Clear out that penetration and kick. Force them into beating you with the jumper. This has caused UConn problems all season long.

SaveOD238

How does the game being played in Hartford as opposed to Storrs affect the crowd's intensity?  Or does it?  I would imagine that because the XL Center is not quite as tight and intimate as Gampel Pavilion that crowd noise would be down and that there would be less of a home-court advantage.

I'd have to guess that you're not very good with people.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with laughing out of levity or in a condescending way in a serious conversation. ;)

Are we a lock if we win Thursday?  Apparently the one knock on our resume is no quality road victories.  That would be it.

Oh get off your high horse. And for the record, "serious discussion" and sports "message board" should never be in the same sentence.
