This should help stir the pot.  Newbill was #8 on ESPN's Top Ten list tonight with a nasty dunk.

Also had 15 points and 16 rebounds, seven of which were offensive, say whatever you want about Jamil next year.  This kid could have contributed.

Who the hell is DJ Newbill?
Can he pass, dribble, and shoot?
Traditional or non-traditional?
Is he a switchable?
Can he work off a ball screen effectively and create for himself or others?
Could he learn the sophisticated, disciplined, and demanding defensive system that Buzz has implemented at MU?

Yep, Buzz jettisoned the wrong dude. Shoulda ejected Smith. Major mistake.

We have been seeing plenty of those over last couple years: Clark, Newbill Roseboro, Smith, meltdowns, selection of starters, McIlvane fiasco, etc. But hey, 40% of all players transfer, so don't worry, be happy.

Again...he couldn't.  Smith signed the LOI, and was already admitted to MU.  Newbill signed his LOI...but had yet to be admitted.  Newbill was the only one that he could have ejected for Wilson.

Clark was a guy that was a year away from MU and only made a verbal.  Was Buzz in the room encouraging him that night?

Roseboro?  Comes off the bench for St. Bonaventure, averaging 9 minutes a game and 1 point.  That's a difference maker!

Smith, Did Buzz ask him to leave?  It was Smith's father-in-law that showed up in Buzz's office the day after Christmas demanding more playing time and designing offensive sets.  Buzz did the right thing by telling him it was his way or good-bye.

Newbill.  Buzz made a decision that he would rather have Wilson.  Cannot call this trade a bust until Wilson starts playing.  But yes, I wish he traded Smith for Wilson but that was not possible.

ive only seen him play on tv twice but in those two games his box scores are extremely deceptive. he really hangs out on the wing a lot and then when he gets the ball he drives the lane. in those games i didnt see many jump shots. obviously i have know idea how he would be at mu but he wouldnt be close to the player he is at s miss. we all know with vander that its much harder to drive the lane with these top tier beast teams

If Buzz had kept Newbill MU would be ranked in the top 10 right now! What was he thinking?!

Here we go with the complaining.

Once again, you miss the point--they were mistakes--inresponse to the posater that said Newbill was a "major mistake". Why do you insist on distorting things that I post? Maybe you made a mistake--but I doubt if you would admit to that.

So Crean should have played him as a freshman and never left so that SC would have felt like staying.

Clark did not set back the program as he was never part of it.

Roseboro never came here and did not take up a schollie for 4 years that could have been used elsewhere.  Mistake signing him?  Maybe, but it was corrected.

Smith was not Buzz's problem.  Smith was Smith's problem

Still don't know about Newbill until we see Wilson.

Ah yes...where are all the Newbill lovers tonight?  With the following line against mighty Loyola New Orleans, clearly young Mr. Newbill would have been a force to be reckoned with in the Big East.
