Ah yes...where are all the Newbill lovers tonight?  With the following line against mighty Loyola New Orleans, clearly young Mr. Newbill would have been a force to be reckoned with in the Big East.

STARTERS               MIN      FGM-A      3PM-A      FTM-A     OREB     REB     AST    STL    BLK    TO    PF   PTS
Devonte Newbill, G   23          0-2         0-0           1-2         1           2        1       1        1      2      3     1

One game doesn't tell the whole story...unless he has a really good game. Then we can jump all over Buzz for "trading" Newbill instead of Smith  ;)

Exactly.  I figured I'd take 5 seconds of my day to tell the other side of the story...which somehow goes missing on here most of the time, unless the other side happens to reflect on MU in a negative light.

Again...he couldn't.  Smith signed the LOI, and was already admitted to MU.  Newbill signed his LOI...but had yet to be admitted.  Newbill was the only one that he could have ejected for Wilson.

So it was the same situation as Hazel/Saunders - with two key differences. We kept Saunders dangling until late August - Newbill had an additional 2.5 months to find a home - and our coach at the time tried to pull a Pontius Pilate and pass the buck to the admissions office (even though there was NO scholarship available for Saunders). Yet the same poster who went over the top ballistic about what the Newbill situation said about our coach, our fans and our University was totally on board for what was done to Saunders. Makes you wonder....
