Gardner posted this on Twitter: "we are on our own fellas!!!! nobody aint with us" he later posted "U don't have to believe in me... Cause GOD does... He knows what I can do, he gave it to me!"

Is he calling out the fans here? Because if he is he should keep his mouth shut, twitter can only hurt him in a situation like this. If he's talking about the fans booing than he should man up and deal with it.

Tugg Speedman

I don't read it that way at all.

No help, have to win out the hard way.

Maybe he should get off his fat ass and get in shape so he can run up and down the court more than twice. Come on this is ridiculous. He is suppose to be an athletic.
Totally uncalled for

No, he went through the camp, we are four months into the season and he can't play more than 2 minutes at a time? I'm sure there are smoking PGA tour players who are in better shape than he is.

What angers you so deeply to write this crap?  Really.  This is a real question.

GGGG

I think the mods need to delete grooves posts if not the entire thread. Completely uncalled for.

groove

Ok, agree, I deleted the posts in question. More calmly I will ask, is it not a legitmate question to ask, why is someone still so out of shape four months into the season?

bamamarquettefan

Did you miss the Gtown game?  Obviously he can play more than 2 minutes.  He put in 12 points before fouling out in that game.

Chris Otule had 4 rejections and 8 rebounds last night and limited SJU to well under 50% on two-pointers while he was on the court so there weren't many minutes left for Davante.

The fans were out of it last night - even early on before the game fell apart.

Davante has been the best surprise of they year as a freshman.

I am glad he knows what he can do.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

mu_hilltopper

(Bama, he played in the GTown game for a while.  10 whole minutes.)

As for the original post / twitter .. I don't see that as a "calling out fans" .. nor would it matter, or should anyone care.

He may be struggling in Freshman english class as well.

Well then, there you have it. I don't disagree with his right to think this, but if that was really on FB, if I'm Buzz, Davante just bought himself a game on the bench, if not two.

The young among us typically lack context.

What you heard last night, whether it audible boos or hushed groans, was the culmination of three months worth of watching their program commit the same mistakes every single game.

You can only swallow frustration for so long.

ChicosBailBonds

There is a reason why some schools and a number of pro teams do not let their players use Twitter, Facebook, etc.

MU might want to consider a similar policy

Pretty sure that was Fulce

Tigidal

Fulce may have said it first and Gardner re-posted (don't see on Fulce's page)... But looking at his page right now and its there (w/ lots of "likes"/comments).

By the way... I support their perspective.  Def been a tough stretch, but the players are obviously giving their all.

Yes, he did call out the fans. And as disappointing as the performance was from the players, it paled in comparison to the shame we all should have felt when the team was booed. There's no excuse and no justification for that. These aren't pro athletes, and booing them doesn't show you're a "true fan". Would any of those people have booed their own kids? Because to me, that's what it felt like. Disgraceful.

+1 Boo the oifficials for some calls, but NEVER boo your own team.  Never.  There is NO excuse for that.

MerrittsMustache

The only reason to boo your own team/players is for a lack effort. This team is definitely not lacking in that dept. The booing made me squirm.

mu03eng

Us fans should be called out, it was pathetic to boo your own COLLEGE team, and I love Ox more now....clearly he has passion for this team and university and then we go and crap on him for it?

What the hell is wrong with us???  I get the strategy discussions and why did we do this or that, and I get frustrated because I want this team to do well, but you would think we have a bunch of 12 year olds posting on here with all the vitriol and hate being thrown about.
"A Plan? Oh man, I hate plans. That means were gonna have to do stuff. Can't we just have a strategy......or a mission statement."

I know I'm in the minority on this but I don't feel that much shame. Granted, I wasn't in the arena. And I wouldn't boo the kids (though I admit in frustration I do say I hate them -- jokingly, I think). But I feel that was the entire season of the same mistakes coming to the forefront and you can't say because 200 MU fans booed the team that the entire MU nation is disgraceful.

Now, what I found to be disgraceful and an embarrassment, was the constant booing directed at Dominic James and Scott Merritt during their careers. To me, that was shameful to direct it at an individual kid rather than the collective booing we saw last night which I feel was directed more at Buzz and a perceived lack of effort.

Constant booing of Dominic James??  Scott Merritt?  Do others recall this?  I certainly don't.
