Jimmy Butler: 1000/500 club

Jimmy is now one of only 19 MU players in the 1000 point/500 rebound club.   Since he he is a three-year player for MU, he won't get that fourth year recent MU greats like the 3 Amigos, Hayward, Diener, Novak, Wardle to further build his stats.

But back in the day, NCAA rules had all freshman redshirt and three-year seasons were the norm.  So what I am asking the number-crunching gurus is how would Jimmy's stats stack up compared to other 3-year MU players?

My only caveat is that the Rebounding Career leader pages in the media guide cut off at 554 total rebounds - so there may be somebody who had between 500 and 553 who did not make the media guide for space considerations.

My guess is the game notes may have had a full list of the 1000/500 club at some point in the last few weeks - but i havent checked them individually.

But wow - when you put the two lists together, that is some pretty heady company for JFB.

Kojis was a flat out stud in a different era. He averaged 18.6 ppg and 15.1 rpg for three years, and he was only 6'5".

Wish we had a rebounder like him today.

Are those two different Glasers on the list?  According to the Wiki, the scorer is Ron Glaser, and the rebounder is John Glaser (a "beloved" - albeit absent - poster on this board, whom I will not "out" despite the fact that it's probably common knowledge).

Congrats to Jimmy, I think we can all agree he has exceeded the initial expectations of him. His legacy should be evaluated at the end of the season, however. If he can lead the team to something the amigos couldn't accomplish (S16 for example) his legacy would get a huge boost. But for now, he's been a very solid player for us, but I hope there is more to come.

Dan Spika, a former asst coach at Minnesota ( and color man for SWC BB broadcasts for many years), coached Archie Clark and Lew Hudson at UM, 2 future NBA all stars, and  said to me that Kojis was the best he ever saw play. Except for the age problem (he is now 71--lol), it seems he could  compete favorably, today.
