Northwestern Beat A Ranked Illinois At Home By 1 And No One Rushed The Court

Does this mean the NW basketball program has higher expectations than IU?

It means Carmody has set the example of winning and losing with class and humility. To say nothing about the absolute fact that the students in Evanston have more to hang their hats on than the outcome of a college basketball game.

Or, it could be that the bluebloods at NW are too stodgy to rush the floor... ;)

More likely because the crowd in Evanston just watched their ranked team lose to Northwestern.

I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

Indiana just got swept in the season series by Iowa, meaning that they will likely find themselves all the way down in the basement.  Hopefully they enjoyed storming the court for that one game.

I am not sure what is the bigger difference maker for Indiana next year:  Nebraska coming to the Big Ten likely taking the bottom or Zeller coming to the team.

On a separate note, I was at the game today and there were countless amount of Illinois fans rippin' on Weber and his coaching. Who do you think is a better game coach, Bruce or Buzz?

The chatter about Buzz being a bad game coach is a little bit reactionary.  He is a very good game coach and has proved it over and over again.  Just because a team loses does not mean that the coach did a poor job.

I'd take Buzz for sure over Weber.  Illinois should recruit itself and Weber has not landed very many players until his 2011 class.  From what I have seen, Weber is a good game coach, so it might just be frustrated fans.

watched the 2nd half of IU UI and two observations, kudos to Crean for ditching the candy stripe warm up pants and Jerimiah Rivers looked like he wished he was somewhere else.  I always feel sorry for kids that can't seem to find the right situation for themselves and Rivers seems to fit into that mold.

This is the third bad loss for Illinois this year, at least.  How often does Buzz lose games to teams he shouldn't?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

He's got the recruiting thing worked out.  His 2009 and 2010 classes were pretty good ones, and like you say 2011 is a great one on paper.

I also think the NU student body was able to recognize the fact that Illinois doesn't deserve the ranking and don't have court rushing status.  Had they beaten Ohio State last Saturday, that might gave been another story.

Let's go easy on them.  You don't see a whole lot of sports triumphs living in the Chicago area.  Probably just were stunned and didn't know how to react.

Buzz has had many more games with big leads that were thrown away. To me thats not a solid game coach (ex. Slowing game down).

Yeah, like Chren "fixed", assuming you mean college.  I think six NBA championships, an NHL championship, a World Series, and a Super Bowl appearance in the last twenty years isn't exactly a limited number of sports triumphs.

Now if you are talking about Chicago Cubs sports triumphs that would be correct.   :-[
