Last night he jumped on a plane to go recruit a 'big'.  Anyone know who he is after?  Are we in a recruiting window right now?

brewcity77

Amazing how much attention the words "big kid" can have on MU nation. Three threads about this in less than 24 hours.

Stretchdeltsig

Sig em Buzz.  We need a couple of talented "bigs"!

willie warrior

Hope he is looking at someone big for next year who can get some minutes. Better yet, hope he gets that guy to commit.

We really need a 4 who can play "D" and board.  Not necessarily a scorer but a monster on the boards who can put back offensive rebounds would be awesome.

jsglow

My bad fellas.  I somehow hadn't noticed the other threads.

Buzz was at LaLumiere HS in Laporte, Indiana last nite according to a friend who was also at the game.

Darius Stevens (La Lumiere Prep – LaPorte, IN) Stevens has good length at 6-6 and is an exceptional athlete with a very high motor. He runs the floor well out on the wing and is a super athletic high-flyer and exciting finisher above the rim. While his jumper still needs polishing, the elevation that he gets is very good and will prove to be an asset for him once he finds some consistency with his shooting. Basketball is in his blood. His father is the late Barry Stevens who was a star at Iowa State and who also coached the Gary Steelheads of the CBA.

from Jan 24th:
A change for the better

Darius Stevens has been through a lot. The 6-6 LaLumiere player lost his father, Barry Stevens, as a freshman at West Side. The elder Stevens had been the head coach of the Gary Steelheads after a remarkable career at Iowa State.

Needing a change, Stevens moved to Merrillville but struggled greatly in Pirates coach Jim East's regimented system. He never saw the promise wearing purple, so he made contact with Brooks and changed his uniform and future.

"I never felt like I could be my best at Merrillville," Stevens said. "I wasn't reaching my potential. Toward the end of the summer I got a chance to visit LaLumiere and get a feel for the campus and school. It's a lot like a college campus. It was something I needed to get in a better position."

LaLumiere is not an IHSAA school, although the Lakers play eight Region schools that are association members this season. Brooks has one major goal: finding a college for the players.

Stevens is averaging 18 points, seven rebounds and three blocks for LaLumiere (5-6). Ruiz is averaging 15 points and seven assists.

Marquette, Notre Dame, St. Bonaventure, Army and Cornell are looking at Stevens.

The visiting team that night was Traders Point Christian Academy. They have 2 "big guys"...both international:

6-8 senior Luka Zivkovic from Serbia
6-11 junior Alex Olah from Romania.

I think I've seen this movie before!

Getting back to Milwaukee's Euro roots.

So who was he looking at, the 6'6" guy?

If so that would be a big kid in Buzz's switchable policy.

I'd go after Zivkovic and hope for the reincarnation of Pistol Pete.

Zivkovic is '11 who has been offered by the likes of Dartmouth and getting looks by schools like Valpo and Western Michigan.

Olah is '12 and has been getting looks by Northwestern and Illinois

And its Bordeaux.  If we need to be picky about Shaq's best acting performance ever.
