Im sure it will be shown on ESPN, but the Akron Zips with Romeo Travis (HS teammate of LeBron James) got hosed from going to the NCAA tournament.  To put it simply, 6.6 seconds left on the clock, Akron up 2, misses the free-throw, clock doesnt start for a good 2 seconds, Miami OH gets a three off with about 1.5 seconds left, hits it, what do the refs do.  Give Akron .6 seconds, it made no sense, I hope this gets reviewed and the refs get fired, that is an awful thing to do, to rob kids from going to the dance.

The Akron coach was visibly PO'd when getting the explanation from the officials.  That was the really a poor job by the officials.  They are the ones who control the time in the first place.

They actually gave Akron a chance to win, something they shouldn't have done, Miami could have been robbed there.  If they start the timer correctly the shot gets released right before time expires or right after, thats where the game should have ended - not with another Akron possession.

maybe I didnt explain that in my post, but I said that made no sense... .6 seconds is enough time for a tip, well... I mean unless they let them play for 2 seconds before starting the clock like they did for Miami OH....  Akron was robbed, if I was the Akron coach I would have gone irate, the amount of time that passed before the clock started was more than what was left when Miami got the shot off, it was poorly done.

ESPN did a side by side clock with the "correct" time .. they had the game winning 3 going off just before time expired.  So .. by ESPN's analysis, the correct team won.

The worst call I have ever seen in my life is the one that was assessed to Diener (his fifth) in the Louisville game that Mason won in the last second. I wish I could explain how atrocious it was, but I cannot.

yea I saw that, so atleast that was correct...  but what were the officials thinking when they put the extra time on the clock, that made absolutely no sense, even in their time when the ball goes through the hoop it was at .1 seconds, those refs were lost.

ok i dont think alotta people here understand y they put time on the clock.  So Akron is fouled with 6.6 seconds left.  sum akron player misses the throw and miami gets the rebound.  but the refs dont start the clock for about a second. so miami is a quarter of the way down the court before the clock starts (its at 6.6 when it should be aorund 5.5).  So the kid hits hte three with like .1 of 0.0 seconds left (with teh delayed clock).  In reality theyre shoulda been about 1 second left after he hit the shot cuz the refs were slow to start the clcok after the missed free throw.  I woulda given akron about 1 second.  thats y they put time back on.  It was the right call too so idk y everyone is complaining.  I think those refs knew exactly what happened and did the right thing.  I watched the game and im prety sure ESPN didnt have a "correct time" i think they just had what the refs who started it late had....thus the shot hit wiht .1 not 1.1 seconds left.

you understand that makes no sense right???  If the clock is delayed... the delayed clock will have more time, and there was .1 after Miami made the shot on the delayed clock, no way the real clock would have a second.

The worst call I ever saw in my life was at the Kohl Center. UW leading by one, 50 seconds left, Badger (Tucker?) starts to go up for a shot with Novak guarding him. He leaves his feet by a good three inches, comes down with the ball, no call. I TIVO'd the game and to this day have never seen a worse non-call than that.

maxpower773

I saw the thing on Sportscenter too last night, and actually the clock shown on tv was .1 seconds ahead of the clock above the backboards. When ESPN showed their clock, which was the real time, the player got the shot off with .1 seconds left on their clock, but that was based on the clock shown at 6.6 seconds instead of 6.5 seconds which it should have been. So he possibly wouldn't have even gotten the shot off if the clock had the right time and started when it should have.
