3 Point Shooting for Pitt
« on: January 08, 2011, 01:47:33 PM »
8 of 11 at this point..ridiculous...won't continue in the 2nd half.  Do need to defend better on the 3 as they have been getting good looks.

Need Crowder badly..team hurts when he is off the floor as evidenced by this run..

I don't understand much of what Buzz wants to do defensively.

Our inability or unwillingness to close out on the 3 point shot this year is driving me nuts.  Our team D this year is at best mediocre and at worst atrocious.

I can't imagine he wants the 3 left that wide open....the boys are having a major case of  brain fart today.   Good God....worst half of defense I have seen from MU in a long long long time.

It appears he just hopes for the best.

Our offense is performing well.  0 turnovers is an excellent stat, but that outside shooting defense needs to improve to win this game.

How bad, defensively, must the guys on the bench be at this point?   Buzz says they don't play because they can not play defense.   I don't want to open my eyes if the team defense can actually be worse than it was in the first half.

Game was tied when Crowder picked up his 2nd..25-25...have to have him on the floor.

As has been said by commentators..when MU misses shots..our defensive energy seems to slip..and it is always considered to be easier to play D following makes..easier to set up the D.

Pitt right now reminds me of us last year...they have us "spinning" as all the dribble drive and kick outs and ball movement..is creating really good looks.

That said, even with the good looks..they will not shoot 66% from the 3 in the 2nd half.

Our double-teaming guys has not been working - leaves a 3 open wide.  But we had two guys on Wannabe and he sank it and drew a foul.  Out perimeter defense has been suspect all year.  I have no idea how we solve this.  Zone didn;t stop it much either.

It seems almost unbelievable that we have 0 turnovers and are down by 11....that deficit is clearly on the d.

Agree that the D has not been good most of this season...however, it is the fact that we are closing out on the 3's aggressively that they are getting open looks from the 3.  Pitt is playing smart ball..as we rush to close out, they pass the ball, that guy penetrates, defense collapses, and then he kicks ball to help defender's man..who launches a wide open 3.

Basically they have us on "skates," dut to their excellent ball movement, rotation, and penetration.

Yeah--0 turnovers and we are still getting our ass handed to us. So much for going small. The only guy playing worth his salt is Buycks.

Why the hell does Blue take a three from the corner when he had DJO open for three on the wing? Blue will make that shot about 10% of the time. If he thinks he can go pro next year, he better see a shrink.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

Of course..and of course you've argued for Cadougan over Buycks previously..and we saw your argument for Gardner over Otule as well..Gardner has potential but is not quite ready yet..

Not much we can do when they hit a totally statistical outlier amount of 3s.  If we step out on the 3s they will work us down low.

Brown for Pitt is now 8-9 on 3's the last two games combined. He's in a zone.

Jimmy just completely lapsed on that in bounds play..where Brown just drilled the 3...terrible.  No reason for that on an out of bounds play.

Willy, judging from the posts you've thrown up on this board, you wouldn't have the slightest clue if Buzz was being out coached.

Pitt is just a lot better than us. We aren't being outcoached...we're being outplayed by a better team.

Honestly they aren't much better.  They have hit more than 60% of their 3s.

I've never seen a coach keep taking timeouts after his team makes 3's...2nd or 3rd time Dixon has done this..trying to mind fu$k the WArriors?  Weird
