I thought he played quite well.  Some silly fouls, but he is MILES ahead of JC.  It's stunning to me that JC was a RSCI top 50 player.  STUNNING.

I wanna jump on Junior's bandwagon, but today when he was in we look absolutely awful. I will agree with you on this

He looks so uncomfortable.  He picks up his dribble for no reason.  It's 4 on 5 when he's out there because he is not an offensive threat.  I know he's recovering from a serious injury but it's definitely a different team when he is out.  We become very stagnant and easy to defend.

I'm holding out hope that Junior looks slow because of the injury and he will be quicker next year...because he is our point in 11-12 no matter what.

I pray we have a plan B in the works.

I also think he's become very tentative and is looking to NOT make mistakes rather than looking to make a play.  Other than his first appearance in the game where he aggressively attacked the rim (but missed I think) he didn't do anything to initiate offense which is supposed to be his job.  I thought he was better defensively today for what that's worth.

I was actually most happy with Junior today when he did attack the rim (albeit it got blocked - it was the right basketball play), and was also happy when he followed that up with a jumper from the elbow..albeit he missed..but again..the right basketball play.

Buycks looked good today, some of his usual mistakes but getting better.

Derrick Wilson...

OK...a *better* plan B.  I've been hearing about how great our incoming freshman PGs are for the past two off-seasons.  (Junior and Smith)  Let's just say I'm skeptical.

Agree.  He had moments...needs to have extended periods of time.  I think he needs one breakout performance to get his confidence up and he'll start to play better.

They should get the Admirals' power play clock going at the BC when he enters the game.

Also agree. Funny but he looked better when he received the second pass of the possession and took it into the lane. Unfortunately, he seemed to look for a shot rather than dumping it off (too bad Gardner wasn't in there?).

When he brought the ball across the line, I noticed that almost always his (first and only) pass was back towards midcourt (to Crowder mostly, I think) then he disappeared.

Fair enough..however..unfortunately the wrong Point Guard decided to transfer.  Reggie has A LOT more upside than Junior.  I've felt that way for the past year.  Junior has a PG mentality, and sees the floor well (except today where he completely blew it on a set play that got DJO open for a 3 from the left wing when DJO had knocked down 3 shots in a row from that part of the floor in his 12-point run).

However, Junior just doesn't have the athleticism to be an elite level PG in the Big East.  Hopefully he gets some confidence, keeps working, and can be solid.  Losing Reggie hurt MU...even though some felt he turned the ball over too much in his short time here...he had all the tools and was only 10 games into his college career.

Yeah, but it's not like we had a choice.   :D

I'd much rather see Vander play backup point than Junior. Nothing gets done when Junior allegedly runs the offense.

Writing PG's off 18 games into their college career is a mistake.   He needs to get better.   He knows it, Buzz knows it.    Let him play 15 minutes a game as our back up PG/4th guard.    As 4th guards go, he isn't bad.   Hopefully, it comes together for him.

Still trying to get back to 100% after the achilles injury?   I thought his first take to the rim was a nice play that got blocked.   His open 17 footer looked a little flat.   Made a nice reverse cut to get his layup.    Falling down in the corner while dribbling.....yeah, not so good.

No doubt that he is still affected. Just hope he comes together soon. BEast will steepen the learning curve a good bit. Hope our young guys are up to the challenge.

Buycks has a sick cross over btw. Must have perfected that on the playgrounds of Milwaukee.

I thought JC looked like our only point guard to start the season (I'm thinking the Duke game??).  Anyhow, this wasn't his type of game against the 2-3 zone.  He obviously needs to improve, but he's not turnover prone, not selfish, and from what I saw earlier in the season, he's capable of making his teamates better.  We'll see what transpires over the next few games, but I'm not giving up on him yet.
