I can only imagine that Maymon would have enjoyed playing with his HS teammate and trying to build a great team at Marquette.  Unfortunately, he made to the choice to go to a Tenn team that is having the same growing pains as MU and possibly worse problems...

Whatever.  As soon as they start using him the right way they will be #1.  They're not running the offense how they are supposed to, don't you effin get it?!

I'd still take Tennessee's non-conference results over our own. Pearl scheduled a brutal non-con for them, They have 6 top 100 wins and one top 5 on the road. Sure, four losses, but three of them are to top 100 teams. I'd certainly take two really good wins ('Nova, Pitt) at this point. Three of their losses are to top 100 teams at home and the other is a road loss to a top 200.

They may be having growing pains, but in terms of resume, they certainly aren't worse off than we are.

Tim Maymom said we would not win again.  He was half right, it is tenn that looks destine to lose, especially when Pearl is still to be suspended and they lose at home to CoC by double digits.

Maymon and Mbakwe should have stuck around - can you imagine...

Can you imagine any coaching staff buying into Tim Maymon and signing his kid....oh wait.

Maymon once made 100 straight half court shots...with his mind.
We Are Elite

bamamarquettefan

key to that stat was the 7 minutes.  They were No. 7 in the country with all those big wins BEFORE he was activitated.  He took the court, is averaging 4 points a game just like he did at MU, and was dumped from the starting line-up.

On the one hand you don't want to wish against a kids success, but if he was out there scoring double figures it might make other kids on the team think maybe there was something to his complaints and Buzz really was holding him down somehow.  If this continues, i believe it's going to be hard for any current player or recruit to believe that.

And I certainly don't mind Pearl getting discredited before he tries to use his MKE connections to steal another player.  That interview on ESPN today was BRUTAL - basically said a lot of people are watching this assuming you are a liar and a cheat.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

All sounds nice, but would you take Pearl's pathetic face crying his eyes out on ESPN about being a liar?  If that is the price of that non-conference success...no thanks.  I am much happier with our candid coach and situtation.

This is a perfect example of why certain posters on this board can't stand you.  You are a fan of the team yet you continually take these snide, holier-than-thou potshots at the team.  Why is this?  Are you keeping it real for the rest of us?  If so, please stop.  After 9,000 plus posts I think we all get it.  Thanks

So here is one for the the stats, modeling gurus.  If we had a hypothetical game of Marquette transfers versus Marquettes current players, who would win?

Transfer team

PG = ty taylor (does he count her?)
SG = scotty C
SF = Maymon
PF = Mbakwe
C = M. Clark (does he count?)

Bench
Newbill
Nick williams (does he count?)
Smith
Roseboro
Hazell
Mbao
McMorrow (does he count)

Who am I missing?

Current team takes this team easily.

Mr. Nielsen

Maymon is sure getting the playing time at Tenn.  :D :D :D

Completely and totally wrong ....

Their last six games (since Maymom was activated) they are 2 and 4

Tue, Dec 14 vs Oakland
L  89-82

Fri, Dec 17   @ Charlotte
L 49-48

Tue, Dec 21 vs USC
L 65-64

Thu, Dec 23 vs Belmont
W 66-65

Wed, Dec 29 vs Tennessee-Martin
W 68-62

Fri, Dec 31   Charleston
L 91-78

You cannot spin this any other way, this team, that was ranked as high as #7 three weeks ago, and is now unranked, is in chaos.  Pearl is due to get suspended and they are about to start SEC play.

They are orders of magnitude worse than us.  They are looking at a sub .500 SEC record and a marginal NIT bid unless they get their act together, and again, they get worse by the day ... they just lost to College of Charleston by 13 at home yesterday for crying out loud!

was this supposed to be in teal or a grinning happy face following??  so the next barometer is losing to a  TOP one hundred team?  you're right, it's not a bad preseason schedule, but barooss i believe was pencilling in W's as he made it.  not only that, but his team is playing like ass.  they're playing out of contriol like they don;t need a coach wee something.  they might just fire pearl afterall, then tim can take over and lead them to the final four.  hey, maybe that was timmmy's motive all along.  transfer his sone to which ever team's coach is bound to get fired.  then take over.  as for not being any worse off than us??  i'll take our problems any day.  tennessee is a team without a rudder and a bunch of playground hoopsters

Chicos,
You've officially lost me...not that you cared but I've avoided getting caught up in your antagonistic posts and not being a catalyst for the lenny, CD, and you debates but come on...give it a rest.  The maymon comment?  You know that Crean and about every other coach at Marquette took quite a few risks on a lot of kids.  But somebody once suggested that these kids are kids, you know kids like Newbill, or Blankson, or Mason, etc.  Picking and choosing which ones we want to turn into a martyr or a villian is a bit much.  Like somebody else mentioned, we get your point.  You liked Crean, so did I when he was here...now I'm supporting Buzz even though he's made some mistakes and I'm sure he'll continue to make mistakes but I'm an MU fan first and foremost so I support the program and it's personnel.  I'm not saying you aren't a fan but can we get past the personal issues you seem to have with Buzz?  I'm guessing no, but it's worth a post IMO.

There was a reason that Crean and Bo Ryan did not go after Maymon.  A reason everyone in the state knew about.  There was a reason why the top player in the state had offers were primarily limited to Green Bay, USC, Iowa State.  I'm sure there is another one in there that I can't remember.

My issue with that recruitment is we lost a year + as a result.  One, it prevented us from going after a kid that would be a sophomore and contributing right now.  Two, it adds another high profile transfer to the list from MU.  Three, it delays bringing in a replacement for more than a year which causes roster gaps further down the line.

We have to be careful and when there were so many red flags that the top two coaches in the state wanted nothing to do with this kid for a reason, we should have stayed away.  It's unfortunate, but that's reality.

I don't think medical related retirement from MU count, so Liam is off the hook, yes?

IDK.  I met Tim Maymon's cousin watching the @UCONN game last season.  He was very apologetic despite me making a negative comment about Tim before I knew they were related >_<  anyhow.  what can you do?  sometimes you take risks and it doesn't pan out.  I mean, anyone remember a little academic liability named Dwyane Wade per chance?  shoot, i hope this doesn't make people go crazy, but it's not totally off.... right? of course maymon's issue was different... but who knows, maybe D Wade doesn't pull up his grades, transfers out and maybe never finds his potential???

Seriously, though, I watched that UT-CoC game thinking "WTF???"  Can't stand BP; and what a screwed up club to play for right now w/ the scandal and all.  I would be a sad panda if I were sitting on that bench.  Ranked #7 indeed. Can you guys even imagine bedlam that would ensue on this board if we ever lost at home by >20 points to a team like that???   I can't.  I think I would barricade my computer so as to avoid the fire and brimstone spewing out of it .... I am so much happier as a Marquette fan every day of the week.  Speaking of, and not to pat ourselves on the back, but have we come the closest of any opponent to beating Duke thus far?  I am okay with that :)

To fall from #7 to unranked...

MUScoop's servers would crash due to the incessant bantering and bitching.

No doubt...I'd need to be on anti-hypertension meds if MU took a free fall like UT is doing right now...
