Maybe not, but at least his story has an "interesting" element to it!

The Mavs' email newsletter has a regular feature entitled "INSIDE DISH," in which Mavs' staffer Danny Bollinger interviews various members of the team for the usual personals. It's a great place to find the latest breaking news on Jason Terry's favorite foods or Shawn Marion's greatest basketball memory, but occasionally, they yield gems like this one from Steve Novak:

[Bollinger]: Who is the most famous person's number in your cell phone?
[Novak]: I don't really know any Hollywood celebrities. But you know what, this will be appreciated. In L.A., I was neighbors with The Most Interesting Man in The World. The Dos Equis guy, I swear. I had lunch with the guy. Him and his wife and me and my wife.  Okay, this is what happened. My wife was at the gym one day and he was there. You know –the little condo gym with four elliptical machines a couple treadmills and some weights. This guy is in there working out. By coincidence my buddy from Milwaukee, who owns a steakhouse named Mo's in Milwaukee, calls me a couple of weeks later and tells me about this great idea he has for his new restaurant that he opening in Houston. He is going to find The Most Interesting Man in The World and get him to come to his restaurant and hang out, smoke a cigar in the lounge...whatever. I said that is a good idea since I am his neighbor! He was like you are kidding me. Long story short, we all meet at Cheesecake Factory in L.A. and set the deal up. Jonathan Goldstein is the guy's name. Isn't that crazy?

I wonder if Steve was misinformed or the Dallas staffer wrote down the wrong name but the Dos Equis guy is actually named Jonathan Goldsmith.

Simple mix-up in names but nevertheless interesting story.  I always wondered what that guy's name was.

Don't invest in restaurants, Steve.
Why not--Pitino enjoys a little nookie in his favorite restaurant, so it appears that making deposits in restaurants by basketball people could become a trend, once it catches on.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Goldsmith was on Red Eye (Fox News Channel) a few months ago - no accent, just a normal, nice guy.  Really ruined the whole thing for me.

Willie, you love Pitino jokes.  We all remember, Rick Pitino boinked a lady in the back of a restaurant.

The Pitino incident was really a mess with Cypher. Word was that Ms. Cypher gave oral sex to one of her attornies--he admitted it. A Jenn Sterger wanna be.

Just what everyone needs in a restaurant; a big white, round plate with a hunk of meat, and nothing else on the plate. With so many better MKE steakhouses around, I'm surprised they're still in biz.

I like Mo's, actually. It's been a few years since I've eaten there, but it was good the times I was there. And I'm from Chicago where there are much better steakhouses on average.

I thought the default was Chicago = better?

Steve's wife worked at Mo's as their marketing person hence the connection.  For the money a lot of other places I would go before Mo's, very average, now wow considering the prices.

a little OT, but I drove all the way out to Hubertus tonight to go to Johnny Manhattan's.  It was great.  My house filet was melt in the mouth tender.  (btw, I consider Johnny V a friend, too).

In August of 2005, when a waiter at Mo's learned my wife and I were from Houston, he grabbed some guy he said was the owner, who regaled us with a grand tale ,filled with hyperbole ,of how he was going to expand to Houston, and to various other cities, so its no surprise he has told Novak , a former Houston Rocket, the same.
64 months later, it has not  happened.
Stay thirsty for your Houston dream, my friend. lol
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
