Well, I can't say I like the "B1G" part alone, but it's better than the whole logo with the "ten" below.  That one is visually very difficult to look at.  Maybe it's just my eyes...

The the designers of the logo:

"The new Big Ten logo was developed to symbolize the conference's future, as well as its rich heritage, strong tradition of competition, academic leadership and passionate alumni," Gericke said in the conference's release. "Its contemporary collegiate lettering includes an embedded numeral '10' in the word 'BIG,' which allows fans to see 'BIG' and '10' in a single word. Memorable and distinctive, the new logo evolved from the previous logo's use of negative space and is built on the conference's iconic name, without reference to the number of member institutions."

So are they using Leaders and Legends for all sports?

For basketball, I think they should have the Snipes and Harrelson divisions. But the Snipes division would only have 4 teams.

I thought they would create a modern looking logo like the Pac-10 did.  Not something I could have created in MS Paint.

The one attached is hard to read, but at least creative...

I propose the scoop logo be changed to this....

.....and the message boards be renamed from "Hangin At The Al" and "The Superbar" to "Losers" and "Villians".

Big Ten fans going ape #$#&( over this.  LOL.  It's getting killed on ESPN in the polls, the comments....go to the fan boards and people are calling it one of the most ridiculous things they've seen in college sports.

Drew Brees for a QB trophy?  HUH?  In 114 years, Drew Brees is the best QB in the Big Ten to have a trophy named after him?

Some classic lines out there and funny mock logos that people are coming up.

Funniest line so far from Nebraska fan

They could have saved time and money and simply dropped network from this logo. Or changed "network" to "conference".

"Greiese-Brees"???  That sounds like something I used to worry about after a late night visit to RealChili.

A WISCONSIN GRAD CREATED THE LOGO!!!!!!!!!

"The new Big Ten logo was developed to symbolize the conference's future, as well as its rich heritage, strong tradition of competition, academic leadership, and passionate alumni,” said Gericke, who studied design at the University of Wisconsin.

I had the Big Ten's logo, but the Pac Ten's isn't much better.  You have two different fonts...one for the word and one for the numbers.  Ugly.

If the Big Ten adds 4 more teams the logo has some potential if they turn the G into a 6....

Exactly the point I was making up-thread.  You can't convince me that this wasn't specifically planned.  You can't.  Don't even bother trying.  I mean it.  You can't.

What if I told you they also intend to turn the B into an 8 - and envelope every Div I and II school and add 189 Div III schools to create an 816 member conference  ;D

I would believe that before I would believe that they're not already planning to change the G to a 6 down the road.
