This team has a long ways to go. Just has no idea on offense and rebounding is of course bad. This team just has a really bad basketball IQ. I thought I would never say this, but this team actually misses Hayward, Cubillian, and Acker way more than the Big 3 last year. It's not even close really. And the Big 3 included the program's all-time leading scorer and a starting guard in the NBA. I need a beer!

I've already had a couple beers, and I agree 100%.  Cuby and Acker opened up everything else last year.  I still see a ton of potential on this team.  However, they need to start playing as a team, and use less 1 on 1.  Junior and Gardner seem to be the only two on the same page, and that didn't even work today.

The sky isn't falling, this was not wholly unexpected with our youth this year.  But I always hate to lose this game - especially at home.

Agree, sky definately isn't falling. Lots of season left to make progress. Who knows maybe this team will get it together by mid-late season and we'll look back at today and this loss won't hurt nearly as much. It just stings so much now when you lose to the dam Badgers at HOME. I don't mind nearly as much losing at Kohl, but it really stings much more when you can't get it done at home. Now, MU has to steal one at UW next year and that will be tough of course.

Careful, I said this two weeks ago and got destroyed over it.....oh but wait, I said it so that explains it.

LOL

Time to mow the grass, this team lacks a lot of heart right now and no veteran leadership.  Buzz....time to do what you're supposed to do...coach them up, make them tough, get someone to step up from a leadership perspective.

Sky is not falling, but the Badgers out played us in EVERY facet of the game today.  Smarter, better ball movement, better defense, better rebounding.  I don't see this team getting better with the additions next year.  Jae Crowder is a total disappointment.  He doesn't get it and is so over his head at this level.  He should stop Tweeting about Arroyo and figure out how to defend.  Erik Williams has not developed at all and it's so weird that O'Tule wasn't 19/19 from the floor today.  He did it against Texas A&M CC!  Why can't he do it against Wisconsin, UCONN or PITT?

Well, to back up a bit.  The need to get better this year.  This current group has the skill (we've seen it individually), they just haven't put it all together.

As an aside...I see Junior becoming the leader (sometime) this year.  He got fired up a bit in the first half - you saw it on his face and it's exactly what we need from him.  He's got to get all these guys playing so that he can get them the ball when they need it.

The problem is we are not playing Corpus Christi every night. We have not beaten a single team yet in the Top 50. Unless we beat Vandy, we will not have one decent non- conference win on our resume. not good.

Definitely not butler...  Crowder is probably the best prospect as a team 'leader'...

Yeah sure--plenty of season left to make progress, because we haven't seen much yet.

I guess we all can be happy at the end of the year if we are 17-14, but made progress. That will be the big excuse.

Keep in mind that last year at this time we were 7-3 with losses to Florida State, NC State (at home) and Wisconsin.  Went to 11-8 (including losing to depaul) before we turned things around.  Certainly need a signature win against Vandy on the road, but this team will make the tournament.

Agreed 100% two weeks ago, agree 90% today...I just don't think it's time to mow the grass, it's dark, raining, and 40 degrees.

Too bad we don't have more big men to stop it from falling on MU's heads.

It is ironic that nearly every interview of Buzz you see, he talks about how the toughest players will be the ones on the court and no one looked tough today.  And it seemed to be the least they have played as a team in a long time.

It made me think every player out there was a freshman playing in their first game.

No kidding.  And last year it was no way they would make the tournament if they played like they did against depaul.  The big east provides double digit opportunities to make statements.  My point is, we'll be there in the end.

I love MU and live and die by this team, but no one stepped up today.  Bad sign on so many levels.  It was a total debacle as it relates to understanding game situation, effort and execution.  We are in trouble at PG, and UW's Soph big man gave them quality minutes.

MU continue to make stupid mistakes.  Mistakes made by upper classmen.

That will be Buzz's rallying cry and motivational tool.  My only counter to that is we had a first round NBA player on last year's team and 4 guys who could stroke it.  We don't have a NBA player on this year's squad and no one that is stroking it consistently.  The Big East was also weaker last year than this year....college hoops in general was down per Jerry Palm, etc...in other words, the bubble was incredibly soft.

Sometimes a loss is a good thing and really focuses players into understanding roles and what needs to happen to win.  One can only hope that is what happens as a result of today.

I like switchables as much as anyone, but I'm starting to think maybe we have too many of them and not enough specialists. Butler, Williams, Jones, Blue, Crowder, Buycks, they all sort of drift between a few roles. Often, we don't have a designated ball-handler to lead the offense. When Otule and Gardner aren't on the floor, it seems no one really knows who is supposed to clog the middle and box out on rebounding. For all the benefits of guys that can fit in for a time at multiple positions, you still need people to know their roles. Probably our best example of a guy who knows his role is Fulce, and it was brutally clear we missed him today. Last year, you knew that Cooby and Acker would be handling the ball and shooting when they were open. You knew DJO would be driving and shooting. You knew Butler and Hayward would be focused on getting rebounds, scoring, and operating in the post. Maybe they did more than most guys do at their positions, but they still had their primary roles and stuck to them. This team seems to lack that, and I really hope some of these roles get defined fast. Another six weeks like this and the only hope we'll have of making the tournament is winning the Big East tournament.
