I am confused. did they scrimmage each other or did the Heat just show up for a late night session at the Al (as they ahve done in the past)?

Is it legal, from the NCAA's viewpoint, for a program to scrimmage a professional team, in season?

I vote for JB's explanation.  I imagine "scrimmaging" against any team, pro or NCAA, without consent from the NCAA is considered a NCAA violation.  Arroyo using that term, if made in public, or on Twitter, even playfully, if true, will have to be self-reported to the NCAA.

You aren't giving fans enough credit. After all, they can determine the value of recruit, his strengths, weaknesses, etc. from a 30 second highlight video. This should be a piece of cake.

That is not true.  ZFB met his boyfriend Raul playing pick up basketball against him.  There is no hate in that relationship, although they are known to get a bit rough with eachother.
