Nova handles UCLA and UConn has no problem with Kentucky and wins the Maui tourney.

So UConn has beat the favorite to win the Big Ten and SEC in neutral territory.  And that is one of the mirror games for us?  Oh Boy.

We were picked 8th and UCONN picked 10th.  They are certainly looking good early on, but a lot can change come conference play.

I hope so.  Kemba Walker is playing like a guy possessed and Oriakhi has really improved over last year.

Saw UConn bear Mich St. - some tall timber there. I see 0-2.

I think this might be the season where MU struggles in Big East play.

Absolutely.  Watching UConn play, the talent gulf between them and MU is a mile wide.  It was eye-opening to see MU look totally inept and then watch UConn destroy highly ranked teams.

I think 8th place is a pretty realistic guess as to where MU will finish.

I watched UConn play Stony Brook and Vermont and could not be less impressed. Things can change dramatically in one week early in the season. KC could've been MU's siren call. Let's see.

Also, don't forget that UConn will continue to need Walker to get 30 every night to win. The non-conference teams don't have good scout on him like the conference teams who have seen his game evolve over last two seasons. It wouldn't surprise me if he gets shut down a bit once the regulars pop up on schedule.

Is there a better inside/outside combo that what UConn offers this year?

IMO, it's disappointing that Walker seems to have taken his game to another level for UConn, while DJO has regressed from last season.  And I'm not just talking about the shooting woes.  The numerous annoying pump-fakes, the indecision whether to drive or shoot, and the complete inability to run a fast-break properly (does DJO ever NOT draw a charging foul?) are all reasons for concern and show no improvement from last year.  If MU wants  to achieve anything this season, DJO needs to have his head in the game each and every night and he and Butler will have to score a ton of points.

Give me a break. We looked crappy against South Dakota. UCONN is for real. they took care of business. We almost beat two Top 20 teams. UCONN beat 2 Top 10 teams.

Can I repost your post here after MU and UCONN square off this year?  If MU splits with UCONN will you be pleased with our team/year?  I predict we split with UCONN, if not sweep..and if that happens can we automatcially then say MU is better than MSU and Kentucky?  No.  So lets not get too carried away with November results.

it's november, yawn. get off the ledge. Also, no telling how many UCONN guys will be suspended or arrested before end of season - or if the coach will quit.

Surely you jest -- it's more likely he'll have to take a leave of absence for another medical issue than quit, right??

agreed about the players though -- i'll never forget when some Huskies stole those laptops & we had those student fans w/ the fake laptops ribbing them for it @ the BEast lid lifter in 2006.... awesome.

Might have been my proudest moment as a student!

Those, and our "UConnvicts" and "UConn Guards Lead the Nation in Steals" signs were gone by the under 16 timeout. Worth it though.

No need to start a new thread but this Gerogetown vs. Missouri game on espnU is fantastic. #8 vs 14

GU up 78-77 with 6min left.

chren21

Well I certainly hope some of you turned this on.  Chris Wright just hit a three to send it to OT.

WOW GU and Mizzou go to OT.  This game is awesome.

I definitely thought that GU was going to loose.  I hope they pull it out.  As a native missourian, I hate watching Mizzou win.  I think I project some of my disgust for UW onto my native state school.

The more I watch other Big East teams the more I think we are in real trouble this year.

You know, I was thinking the same thing tonight.

Not bad for a "down" year in the Big East.

HoopsMalone

I am not sure about UConn.  Kemba Walker is going for about 30/game now.  Teams will figure out how to slow him down.  Impressive start though.

Big East should be tough.  Our strength schedule is going to be pretty good this year.  This is the toughest schedule I can remember playing.  Even the Amigos senior year when it seemed like everyone in the conference was amazing, we still only played Dayton (and lost...) in Thanksgiving to go along with Wisco and an SEC team.

That being said, Big East should put in 8 or 9 teams and we should be one of them.  Time for MU to step up and beat Wisco and Vandy in December.  We are a good team. Duke is #1 and the Zags were desperate for a win.  We will be fine.  Lots of players making nice individual contributions which is encouraging.  Now, Buzz just needs to put it all together.

Dr. Blackheart

1.  Gtown's guards scored about 80% of their points tonight and Bowen never saw the floor.
2.  Meanwhile, other MU connections had a rough night:  Snaer, Shumpert, Hazel, Nick Williams...and
3.  Desroisers' Wake team barely squeaked by a bad Iowa team.
4.  Glad Barnes was anointed the "Chosen One" by all the Carolina wankers.  Richmond outplayed him tonight.
5.  NU undefeated.  The B10 make-up has changed quite a bit over the last year or two.  Is Bo running in place while the others put on their sprint shoes?
6.  B10 and BEAST the tops in the land--by far.  Duke has a cakewalk in the ACC.

The thing is, last year was the "down" year for the Big East.  I posted several articles and opinions on that from some of the RPI gurus last year and got body slammed for it.

This year the Big East may not be the best (arguably they are), but they are near the top.

The schedule is tougher this year.  Not nearly as tough as 2 years ago or 4 years ago.

marquette99

As high as I am on this team, I believe the beast has clearly shown they are the best conference 1 to 11, so if we stumble a bit we could fail to go .500 in conference.  That's 10 really tough beast teams, and unfortunately seton hall will lose most of their games with hazel out, but we travel there at the end after he is back and healthy.  I believe the 7 to 11 teams in the beast will all have compelling resumes based on how all these early season wins will ultimately boost the conference.

I'd like to keep our run of finishing in the upper part of the conference, but even if we lose some tight ones to slip, just make the tourney this year to get the experience for our sweet 16 run next year.

Great game, but did you see the GTown guy (forgot who) try to foul with .3 left. Wow, talk about knowing whats going on.

marquette99

That was unreal, but I'm sure the ref just couldn't bear to decide the game on a call 84 feet from the basket.  Actually, not a bad looking shot from there.

Right on. And yeah that shot didnt look too bad from there.
