I swear only 1/3 of the lower bowl put on those blue shirts.  What is the matter with some of you people.

of course when I turn on the Nevada Game when I got home the whole place is in White for the White out.

I am happy as hell that we won but some people cant put on a blue shirt

PuertoRicanNightmare

I am anti telling people what to wear, but you're right. You could barely even tell there was a t-shirt give away.

thisists

Exactly! A very nice, FREE blue shirt. WTF?

NateDoggMarq

Every other school that has tried it has been succesful at it.

For christ sakes Nevada was able to do it.  Freaking NEVADA!!!!

The only think that I can think of why it doesnt work at MU is that it is in a big city and people want to be dressed to impressed because after the game they might spend 15 dollars on a mojito at Taylors

thisists

Yeah, but no one was asked to come to the game dressed in blue or buy a blue shirt at the game... they got one free and didn't seem too greatful for it.

muhswarrior

Not sure everyone got a blue shirt.  The way in which the shirts were handed out was horrible.  It was a complete mob scene at the entrance and many people I know did not want to fight through the crowd to get one.  Why not put them on the chairs or have ushers hand them out as you enter the gates??

Plus After I got mine nothing stopped me from standing there and grabbing 10 more if I wanted.

The Lens

I agree.  The way that handed them out was horrible.  Do you think the 65 year old man next to me was going to join the mosh pit before the game just to get a t-shirt.  How are other teams handing them out?

You guys are beauties.

Marquette goes out of their way to make a great shirt in all different sizes
and you're complaining that they weren't delivered personally to your seats?

For goodness sakes, they are trying to give people shirts that will fit them! How are they going to put a shirt on every seat when they don't know what size everybody wants? The way the distributed them was fine.

That was the problem. There weren't enought t-shirts to go around because people were taking more than one. I didn't get one and I really wanted that shirt.

I saw some guy walking around with about 6 or 7 of them.  I am sure that they weren't for his friends at the game. I think some of you are missing the point with respect to the older people in the crowd.  I had to literally shove my way through the crowd to get my shirt - do you think some elderly people are going to do that?

mu_hilltopper

I won't say I wasn't disappointed by my BC brethren not putting on the free t-shirt .. but it was more than 1/3rd in the lower bowl.  I'd say it was  closer to 2/3rds wearing blue.  The 1/3rd not wearing blue made themselves stand out more.

.. That being said .. the main BC entrance ran out of shirts before I got in at 7:40.  The other entrance had 'em, but only s mall/mediums.

My wife and I were just discussing .. it is possible that people didn't quite get the message to PUT ON THE SHIRT.  While there were a lot of role models, some just didn't get it.

What Crean needs to do is tape a 10 second PSA telling people to do X.  If he wants people to wear gold or blue, make a point of it on the jumbotron a couple times per game.  A simple "This game is on ESPN, we want to show up well, we gave you shirts, please put them on now."  would work wonders. -- And not just pre-game, but at a timeout during the game, too.

Otherwise, there are some folks who think it's just another  free shirt giveaway.

NavinRJohnson

Problem was not people failing to wear the shirts, teh problem was a failure to get the shirts to the people. Wayyyyy to many people simply didn't get one.

Warrior1969

I guess MU just can't figure this out?  Seems very simple, why can all the other schools do it?  When Kentucky played Florida on Game Day a few weeks ago, they actually had the sides in white and the end zones in all blue.  Imagine that at MU?  That would be like rocket science!!  TC did ask people to put them on during hids pregame video.  I agree though that the way they gave them out was terrible.  When they did the cool Wade ones two years ago, they gave them out as you came in, and you got one shirt.

RawdogDX

They needed to have lines for each shirt size, the lines needed to have ropes to keep them organized.  I don't see why anyone would be against this.  A lot more than 1/3 of the people there had shirts on, at least two thirds.

You must not have entered the gates around 7:30 and been in the middle of the mosh pit.  It was not fine how they handed them out.  A girl on stage yelling "Large" and hands going up.  The guy next to me just kept grabbing shirts.  I could easily see how an older person would have just bypassed the shirts.
As someone else said have lines with the sizes posted, get in line get a shirt and your ticket marked.  Not that hard to figure out.

Warrior1969

2/3 put the shirt on??? You neeed to check you glasses or something - not even close!!!  The upper bowl you could hardly tell there were any blue shirts.  All of the students in the upper bowl didn't even put them on.

Marquette84

You guys are missing the point--the main reason people didn't wear their shirts was not because they couldn't get them--althought that was probably the case for some.

The real reason is that it would destroy their resale value. Knockoffs are already going for $25 + $10 shipping.

NateDoggMarq

I have a strange feelign that we were the only school to size scale them from
S-XL and because most of the people in the athletic office havent ever owned a retail clothing store it would be natural for them to screw up on the size scale.

Size scaling is actually quite simple when it comes to t-shirts.... DONT HAVE A SIZE SCALE.  it is a commeerontaive t-shirt that is not meant to fit sexy or to show off your muscles, it is meant to be worn to the game, and on a lazy day when you want to just chill out.

What has happened in the past for the last t-shirt giveway was to many people complained that their were not enough small shirts for the ladies who want a "Form fitting shirt"  hence putting a shirt on every seet would make people mad.

The next time we do this they just need to put an XL on every seat and have people put the shirt over what ever they were wearing.

And their was a PSA by coach crean to were the shirt, but nobody could hear as the band was just finishing playing ring out ahoya.

ultimate

It is mentioned in this thread that an older person wouldn't have gone into the mosh pit to get shirts...I find that comment interesting as all the people I saw carrying around 5+ shirts were older folks...not elderly, but older...50s/60s.

A couple in front of me had about 7 shirts and the four people next to them didn't get one.

It's all about respect...something Marquette alumns and friends should know and understand.  You're being given a shirt for free...don't be greedy and take more than one.  The shirt was a gift...they didn't need to hand them out.  When someone usually gives you a gift, do you usually ask for more (assumming the gift is not beer)?

Taking a bunch and selling them on ebay is just as bad as taking extra and giving them to your friends that didn't have a ticket.

ToddPacker

Agreed, but in my experience it was some rather self-entitled students that were collecting extras or were seen with 5 or 6.

Virginia Warrior 77

Is this really something to get upset about?  It was still a great game, wasn't it?

PaintCrew93

Not that it was a huge deal but....there HAD to be a better way to get a shirt - Why didn't they just have all XL's and hand them out at the door?  Or do what they did with the other giveaways, just have people go to an area and wait in line.  the mob scene at the entrance was ridiculous. Even with that, there wa a good 2/3 of the lower level wearing them.

muwarrior87

a lot of alum like their sweater vests too...lol, but it should have been done in a similar to the d-wade figurine hand out...set two groups up on the north and south ends of the first level outside the 200's entrance, and you need to bring your ticket and get it checked to get your shirt. They had extra shirts at halftime too so I know it wasn't a lack of shirts problem.

drewm88

I don't know if there is a better way to handle it.
We see the complaints coming from this method.
If they only had one size, people would complain about it not fitting (I know I would want to wear it much more than one night.)
If they were at the turnstiles with different sizes, it would take forever.
If they set them up in certain areas of the concourse, many would not bother to go get one.

I think the best idea is to do what they did tonight when they give out shirts, but don't ever try to make it a blue (or gold) out. Just free shirts.

Buzz Williams' Spillproof Chiclets Cup

Man, I'm so pissed off we beat a top 10 team who nobody seems to like around these parts on Senior Day, and set the Wisconsin attendance record again (total bogus number, with the band taking up student seats, and the attendance breaking the old record by 1 person? Totally made-up number).

I'm just so angry that we won! I wanted everyone to wear blue! That's what was important!
