He's a freshman....dangerous to rate any kid as a freshman for good or bad.  My original question was based on locale, the fact he was a Milwaukee area kid who we didn't even send a letter to (alledgedly)...I was curious as to why.  Several posters have responded, even a few without personal attacks.

He'll be a good player for Wisconsin.  He may not have even seen the light of day at MU because of how we play.  Who knows, but maybe we shouldn't get all chippy about how good or bad a kid is after one game or even a year or two.   Plenty of MU players come to mind that were non-descript early on and had very good careers, some even making the pros...Amal, Crawford, etc.

I don't know who alleges MU didn't even send him a letter but that's nonsense. Again, the reason that we didn't recruit him hard is that the program is at a point where beating out N Iowa for a guard prospect isn't reason to celebrate. Sure, a certain number of those kids turn out great, but I'm glad our competition for backcourt players is a little stiffer than the Horizon League. Wisconsin's interest was also tepid at best (would take him as a "preferred walk on) until the Taylor debacle and the Blue decommitment.

Not to be a nitpicker (well, maybe a little) but Northern Iowa is from the Missouri Valley and has a very respectable program. Just ask Bill Self.
Anyhow, they've made the tourney five of the last seven years.
They're a good program with good players.

Dont think I said he would never leave

Definitly said that with him they would be a legit final 4 team with the current players and roster
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

My mistake. And I'll also readily concede that they're a very good program.

I'm curious if you know he was recruited or are just saying it (i.e. letters sent, etc).  I'm asking honestly.

Secondly, yes you can say N. Iowa but that seems a bit disingenuous as he was also offered by Arizona State, Maryland (NCAA 3 of last 4 years), etc.  Not sure why you gravitated toward N. Iowa, who is a good team as well (Northern Iowa...NCAA last two years and 5 of the last 7 years).

It's been reported on this board that he took a few "unofficials" to Marquette. To me that's indicative of more than just a letter. I used N Iowa because that's where Mark Miller (who is the pre-eminent Wisconsin high school basketball authority on the board) said he was likely headed had a scholarship not opened up unexpectedly at UW.

Understood, and Mark is fantastic.  But we shouldn't rule out the fact that some quality High Majors also wanted him to attend...programs that have recently participated in the NCAA tournament.

Gasser is a good player no doubt, saw him ply at Port numerous times his Senior year (wanted to see all the buzz about this kid).  Not one person, even UW fans, can legitimately say that at the end of the year they would have wanted Gasser over Blue, if they do, they're liaing.

I'm just happy that more kids coming out of the Wisconsin High School basketball system are making impacts, last years senior class was quite good.  I still believe Ben Mills (Colorado) will be a better college player than Evan Anderson, and TJ Bray will be a very nice player for Princeton as well as McWhorter at Indiana St.

Boy would Mbakwe be a beauty in a MU uni.

Guy is a beast.

Scott Christopherson scored 29 points tonight against Drake.  Love him, hate him, whatever...he had a helluva line tonight

11 for 11 on the floor, including 5 for 5 from 3 point land and perfect from the free throw line.

Great performance from a... traditional guy.

Gotta confirm, but looks like Calvin Godfrey (frosh that was in MN for high school this past year, coming from Milwaukee) had 14 boards in 18 mins.  There were questions about whether or not he could get academically eligible.. but he did... he's a man.. just a mean, physical specimen.  Iowa State's ineligible players this year could be a great squad.. they've got a very good thing going on down there with the Mayor.
The portal is NOT closed.

Yes, traditional guy.  Spot up shooter, great from downtown, etc.

Nice game, but he would probably be fighting Jamail Jones and Reggie Smith for min at MU

Agreed.  Worked out well for Mr. C, he's getting a lot of playing time, doing quite well (proving he is a DI athlete despite what some said here) but didn't fit Buzz's system.

I thought your argument would be that he's proving to be a DI basketball player despite not being much of an athlete.

That's what she said.
I mean, literally, that's what she said. Right after he fractured her cheekboke and ruptured her sinuses.

FWIW, relative to minutes played, Jae Crowder is every bit as, if not more, productive.
And less douchie.
