Buycks still hobbled

It appears as though the Marquette Golden Eagles' depth at point guard is going to be tested right off the bat.

Now is as good a time for JC to prove his worth.

With their season opener tomorrow night against Prairie View A&M, clearly the timing of Buycks' injury couldn't be worse.

I can think of about 20 instances where the timing could be worse.

I do appreciate the update though!

What's the status of the Trainer's Listerine supply? Gargling, ballet, and jiu jitsu are the key to injury prevention, mental toughness, and victory.

"And I have a feeling that it could turn into quadruple turnovers, too."

Holy crap - 4 X the amount of turnovers of (I assume Buycks).  Personally, I think they will go down with Smith/Cadougan taking Buycks role.

One thing I really enjoy about Buzz is how he hypes up the cupcakes.  If you listen to him talk about any game we're about to play he can make it seem like a NCAA tourney game.

Thank baby jesus for the start of college bball season!

Considering no one was really talking about Buycks a couple weeks ago, I think we'll be OK. Vander can play some minutes at the point too.

+1 - "They've got two division one transfers.  Their leading scorer is returning.  They've got two junior college transfers.  They've got two big guys.  One that looks like Davante and one that looks like Jae.  One of their players has a robot arm.  They can play."

Just part of how Buzz tells it like it is.

Not only do I think we'll be fine with Buycks I prefer having just JC and Smith at the point. Those are our true PGs let's get them some experience that's what these cupcakes are for. And does anyone really believe Buycks would be less turnover prone than those two?

Buycks looked decent walking around campus this morning. I will be optimistic and say that he could suit up, but I hope the other guys get most of the playing time regardless.

+1.  Seriously... who had DB starting at point on their Jan 1 depth chart prior to the St.J-III game?
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

It had been mentioned here previously.  I do recall someone saying they talked with Homer at the Pro-Am this summer and he mentioned that Buycks potentially was going to start the season at PG.

I'm with you here, but Buzz did say "start the season" not "entire season," didn't he (not being sarcastic, I just don't recall with 100% certainty).

Maybe Buzz has something else in mind apart from the scooper consensus (usually does), but the general consensus here was that Vander, Junior and Reggie would be sharing 35-40 minutes at the point.  So it sucks that Dwight is hobbled, and I hope he gets well soon, but there's definitely some depth here.

No kidding.  I enjoyed hearing just how awesome PV A&M is.

It's also the kind of thing that sticks in the back of my mind whenever I hear "Buzz is brutally honest" or "Buzz just tells it like it is".

FWIW, It's common knowledge that Homer isn't a fan of Cadougan running the point. That's why he does what he does, and Buzz gets the big sheckles for driving the bus.

This is all a part of the Buzz Williams Mind Screw to motivate Mr Cadougan. Cadougan starts at the point come the BE Season.

I think this move is equal parts trying to motivate JC, but I also think Buzz is using the early season here to experiment a bit, and see if we can play stretches in games where Buycks is at the 1.  Allows more versatility, and better matchups on D.

Yeah, but he probably has inside information on what the coaches are thinking...versus us at least.
