Why did you not go up to him and ask?

Oh no!  I don't know how this team can possibly survive without the player who will bring back the team's highest turnover rate, lowest ORtg, and the lowest eFG%!

Especially this close to the season, we're three weeks away from the start of practice!

I think he's being counted on to provide a lot more than last year, don't you?

I hope he's being counted on to play better than last year, sure. But can he deliver?  His body of work last year was suspect, to be kind.   And with Cadougan, Smith, Blue & Jones now in the mix for the MU backcourt -- Buycks is the veteran with the most to prove and the most to lose.

Yeah, it's about the time of year where foot injuries materialize for 2-3 players.

If he's not on crutches in addition to the boot, it's probably either a minor injury or just a precautionary measure.

from what I got from facebook....4never was trying to fill a cavity in Dwight's mouth and cut his foot off on accident.  I blame I4.

I hope your hate works out like the Acker hate did last year.

Also, who is going to step up on the team to take the terribly inefficient, long jumper from just inside the arc?

Buycks!!!  He is the roster's current Master of the MISIB, aka the Most Inefficient Shot in Basketball...u know, that fadeaway 19-footer or the floating 17-footer that often bails out a defense (sometimes with a cool, gratuitous scissor kick for emphasis!).  The McNeal special!  Of course to get to the point of taking a terrible shot Buycks has to ensure that his team still has possession of the ball -- also an issue for him.

Love that term, MISIB, Henry.  I think u invented it, no?

;D

Buycks will be an important player on this years team.  Though he may have had a marginal year last year, he has A LOT of talent - and by all accounts really improved his jumper over the summer.  Think we need to lay off the Buycks hate.

Should we just get the "players are over-worked in the preseason" argument out of the way now?  And then we can overanalyze the Marquette Madness scrimmage, followed by the exhibition and cupcake games.  And then we can all talk about how the student section sucks because they're not drunk enough.  And then we can all jump off a cliff after MU loses a game they have no business losing.  And then we get knocked out in the first weekend of the tournament by losing a really tight game.

See you next season, everyone!

The jumper is not the issue; shot selection & a loose handle are.

I hope Buycks has a huge senior year -- the transition from JUCO to the Big East must have been very difficult.

Mr. Nielsen

He has alot of street to his game.

I saw Buycks at the Pro Am, he's the most improved player by far.

I thought Buycks at the beginning of the year was, understandably, a little overwhelmed. By the end of year, he was a completely different player as far as accepting his role with the team.

I'm anxious to watch him this year as I think he's going to be a really solid player for the Warriors.

LON

At his height and size, Buycks rebounds exceptionally well.  I agree he needs to be smarter with the ball, but don't focus only on that one aspect of his game.  I think he's going to have a really good year.

he was....for example, his TO% was awesome in the last 4-5 games last season.  Seemed like he 'got it' late

Canned Goods n Ammo

He's got some shake to his game.

Might be a good energy guy off of the bench. Also, he's athletic enough to be a good ball-hawking defender... but I just haven't seen enough of him to know if he can really do it.

Definitely has potential to be a good role player.

I think Buycks game translates better in that environment. He does a real nice job finishing at the rim, especially for a guy who's not a high flyer.

My issue with Buycks other than his low shooting percentage, is that he's a ball stopper. Many times he dribbles without a purpose, which leads to stagnate offense.
