29 of the top 50 recruits for '11 are still on the board, according to Scout. Once the top 20-30 players have all committed, the rest will fall into place very quickly. Rivers said he will decide by the end of the week. Quincy Miller finalized his visits. Things are starting to pick up.

However, from a strategy standpoint, it is incredibly important to land a top recruit early in the process so that player can recruit on behalf of the staff - assuming that player attends certain camps (LBJ, Durant, etc) and plays on a national team. Such was the case with Vander but he was mostly recruiting kids that were a year younger than him on the national team. If you follow recruiting, the early commits are all over their peers and suddenly a top recruiting class is born (Calipari is an expert at making this happen). He'll get one kid to commit and then that kid will do Cal's work for him.

I think its World Wide Wes who Cal more frequently has do his recruiting.  Bend the recruiting rules until they are no longer recognizable and "a top recruiting class is born".
