Hope this kid is the real deal, but when was the last time Dominican turned out a D1 talent who made a splash?

I thought Dominicans were only good at baseball  ?-(

Kwamain Mitchell has started for two years at Saint Louis.

J.R. Blount started for four years at Loyola.

I realize those teams do not compete in the Big East, but both Kwamain and J.R. have had great careers.

Andy Kowske also wasn't too bad at Wisconsin.

GGGG

Shannon Smith once blocked a Michael Jordan dunk at his camp.

haha hope he takes his time to fill out the application before summer school starts.
Warrior in the class of 2011.

glancing at the thread title, and being a 30 year cigar smoker-- I thought we were offering a new brand of Dominican made cigars--lol
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Ray Nixon wasn't too bad either for the Badgers

Are you kidding the kids already been offered by Indiana State.  Don't expect Wardle and Green Bay to go to sleep on this kid either!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Is this guy the best player in his class out of all the Milwaukee County high schools?

As of right now, yes.

It's definitely too early to tell how good this kid will be and where he will rank within the state 3 years from now.  That being said, even if he isn't Top100 recruit by the time he graduates, I'm ok with it.  I'm a firm believer that great teams are put over the top by the lesser known and lowly touted reserve players.  Essentially role players that play 10ish mpg, but play smart and do what is asked of them.

Further, Buzz is filling this team with Top100 guys already.  At some point, there just isn't going to be enough playing time to go around, thus making Marquette a less attractive destination for a blue chipper.

In conclusion, I trust Buzz's instincts on this early offer.

Top 40 players won't be scared by a little competition at their position.  They're can't-miss players for a reason.  If they're as good as they're projected to be, PT won't be an issue on most teams.

Buzz wants to sign a point guard every year. Assuming he does some of them have to be back up point guards.

It's possible.  However, looking ahead to the 2011-2012 team, essentially half of the team is comprised of Top100 guys.

PG - Junior Cadougan
SG - Vander Blue
G/F - Jamail Jones
F - Erik Williams
F - Jamil Wilson

On the cusp of Top100 prospect includes Reggie Smith (G) and  Davanate Gardner (PF/C)

Playing like a Top20 prospect includes DJO (G).

I'm just saying that if Buzz continues to bring in multiple Top100 guys each class, and a majority of these guys play at or near their expected level, eventually potential recruits are going to look up and down the roster and see boatloads of talent which means tough competition and little playing time if any at all (especially considering that Buzz hasn't shown much confidence in giving freshman extended game minutes).....which is a HUGE factor when considering a school.
