Buzz was on Homer's show earlier today for Buzz's Barbeque...

Buzz projecting Lazar to go late first round. What intrigued me though was when he talked about next years team. Looks like Junior will get a lot of minutes, but the next PG in line was Reggie Smith which surprised me. He put Reggie over Vander at the one, and stated Dwight Buycks could possibly get minutes at the 1 as well.

And like DJO said in an interview a while back, Chris Otule has made remarkable improvements and should be fun to watch what he can do in big situations next year.

Buzz is also expecting big things from Jae Crowder, and don't be surprised if Fulce makes his way onto the scene too.

Should be a fun squad to watch next year, and the years to come.

Thanks for the recap - is anyone able to post an audio link to this?  I'm excited to see Reggie Smith in an MU uniform - glad to hear Buzz has expectations for him to be in the mix for minutes.

Just got back from the Barbeque....couldn't stay for Buzz's talk.   Pretty sure I saw Phillip Nolan there, saw Jamail Jones too (big kid).

It was great to see a lot of former players there, M Jax, Terry Sanders, Barro, Scott Merritt, etc.   Great food as always.

I doubt the Bucks are thinking about another muscular SF/SG. They just got Maggette and CDR who are better scorers. They need someone who can shoot the three.

Yes, but in your guess here, you are not Lazar's coach speaking publicly, with a distinct possibility of being quoted and published in the media, on the eve of the NBA Draft.
Consider:
1) It is common for coaches to assist their draftable talent by talking to many teams, and to their own player, on what he is being told, as to where he may be drafted, by one team or another;
2) On the eve of every draft I have ever watched I have never seen a player, or supporter/confidant of a player state publicly any guess, other than HIGHER of where they are actually, eventually drafted--- no number one pick has said--I expect to go late in the second round;
3) the relative draft pick slot is huge--it determines the level of NBA salary for the next 3 years;
4) Rumors are a tool, at this late date--anything you can put out from someone "who might know" to give teams the rumored impression that someone else may take someone higher, or value them higher, may/is hoped for the effect to improve the possible board position.

Buzz may privately believe/have heard of a lower slot, but in the public statement he is neither dishonest, or being a bad prognosticator-- he is doing what we would hope he'd do--- everything possible to help Lazar get the best slot. I'd be livid if some NBA team was later learned to have been considering Lazar for the late first round, or early second round-- but then dropped their opinion, because someone who knows Lazar such as his coach had publicly projected  him as 50ish, on draft eve.

Only for the first rounders, really.  Wes is going to get paid more next year than most of the first round picks last year.

Agree-- in fact almost anyone not picked, but who is able to pull off an incredible "Wes" ,comes out ahead on $-- here's a cut and paste of my  prior post on the numbers:

..."The options for Wes are phenomonal ($5-6 mill./yr for 2-5 yrs)--ask any player DRAFTED in his class, (outside of the top 10 lottery picks) if they like his position or theirs, HIS is better...he will earn in year 2 and 3 FAR more than the rookie wage scale....ie better, for him not to have been drafted!!

Likewise if Lazar pulls off a "Wes" scenario, he too can do better after year one than those drafted, and BOUND by the 3 year NBA mandated wage scale,to wit:

Clearly the trick is in signing for just one year at league minimum( about $500k), you have to break through, during that first year to be near NBA starter material, and the next 2 years signing will actually be HIGHER than what you would've got being drafted and locked in for 3 years. The congrat for Wes is that he did not get lucky-- he worked hard, and NBA deserves to now have to pay MUCH more by failing to draft and lock him up for 3 years
