whatever your feelings on crean, they were nice words.
It's not about ME,
It's about US.

We have to remember who is target audience is too. The IU fans eat a lot of his tweets up and love them. He has to make sure that they know how successful he's been so that they will believe in him and be patient through all the rebuilding. So yea while his tweets can be kind of sickening from our point of view (I agree that it was nice of him to acknowledge the guys at MU, but it did sort of seem like he was twisting it in a way that him and his staff were all responsible and i hope Buzz doesn't screw it up), but he's not writing it for MU fans. He's writing it to excite the IU fans and this is the stuff they want to hear to reassure them that he is the right guy.

I agree with the general tenor of your post, but don't you think a more effective way to "excite the IU fans" would have been to recruit some talent this year? How many "tweets" equal a top 50 or even a top 100 player. Year 3, tons of playing time to offer at a place that recruits itself and basically nothing to show for it. Those who can do, those who can't tweet.

I completely agree. I think he's having trouble on the recruiting trail and he's kind of buying himself time with the tweeting and keeping everyone on his side. They were so low and still recovering from Sampson that they are looking for reasons to be optimistic even though they are pulling in recruits below what they are hoping and not winning very much. At some point they will expect results (some expect results already), but I think if he hasn't done some serious damage recruiting Indiana in the 2011 and 2012 classes then he will be in trouble. That seems to be the classes that Indiana fans are pointing at to get them back on top and kind of the evaluator of Crean.

Could be worse, he could be tweeting about how he is all giddy about the premier of the "Real Housewives of New Jersey"...... oh wait, never mind.

You know how I know he's gay?

Sorry, I just couldn't resist it!  ;)

GOO

I just clicked on the Twitter link and wow.  I thought the Crean excitement about the New Jersey show was a joke.  But he actually watches it and quotes it!!  Lame.  He watched Crowe on Letterman also.  Man, this guy sits around an watches a lot of TV, I guess.  I am surprised as I thought he was 24/7 working his butt off.

Even if it is partly to remind IU that he has had successful players in the past, the main thing is that it is nice for the players he acknowldged.  It's good that the guy who ditched them gave a little applause.

As for his recruiting, he has a big year ahead of him.  Things are going really well for Purdue, Xavier, Louisville, Kentucky, and Butler right now.  That Indiana state talent has a lot of places to go.  Iowa and DePaul getting better coaches doesn't help Crean either getting players in the Midwest.

Wes was at my daughter's school for their Athletic Banquet. (Spring 2009)  Could not have been more gracious, well spoken, hung around for pictures with the kids.  Gave his mom (also attended) props for the way she raised him.  (Kind of threw Pops under the bus)

He gave specific props to Buzz for helping him develop his game.  No mention at all of TC.

FYI: Novak spoke his senior year.  (2006).  Another great MU representation.  These guys really are nice people.

Why should Wes mention Crean? What did that guy do to develop Wes' skills? I think Wes gave credit where credit was justly due. Oversight? Nonsense. Wes applauded Buzz and rightly so. What stinks is Crean is going around taking credit for making Wes the player he is today. Rubbish.
